Trump Claims Presidents Cannot be Constrained by the Courts or the Law [1]

I am very scared for the future of the rule by law and democracy in the United States and you should be too.
U.S. District Judge James Boasberg issued a restraining order on the deportation of hundreds of undocumented Venezuelans migrants to a Salvadorian prison until constitutionally guaranteed due process was followed. In an Executive Order, Trump claimed the 1798 Alien Enemies Act gave him the authority to deport citizens and subjects of a foreign nation if that country is a war with the United States, but of course the United States is not at war with Venezuela and only Congress can declare war.
The Trump administration’s response to the restraining order was too bad we already did it and it is too late to change it. When the judge requested the timeline for the deportations to determine if the court order could have been obeyed, the Trump Justice Department tried to get a hearing canceled, its attorneys refused to respond to the judge in the name of national security, and tried to get the judge removed from the case.
Donald Trump responded to the federal judge’s decision in a dangerous and unhinged post on Truth Social.
“This Radical Left Lunatic of a Judge, a troublemaker and agitator who was sadly appointed by Barack Hussein Obama, was not elected President . . . This judge, like many of the Crooked Judges’ I am forced to appear before, should be IMPEACHED!!!”
Trump dismissed the judge as a “Radical Left Lunatic” and a troublemaker and agitator” so his ruling did not have to be followed.
Trump sought to discredit the judge as aligned with anti-American Islamic forces because he was appointed to the court by Barack Hussein Obama.
Although the Constitution established the judiciary as an independent branch of government, Trump insisted that because he was elected, he cannot be restrained by the courts and the law.
Without evidence, Trump called Judge Boasberg “Crooked.”
Trump demanded Boasberg be impeached, although the Constitution states that Justices "shall hold their Offices during good Behaviour."
James Boasberg was first appointed a judge by Republican President George W. Bush in 2002. He was nominated to the Federal District Court by President Obama in 2011 and has been chief judge of the Federal District Court of the District of Columbia since 2023. Chief Justice Roberts, who was nominated to the Supreme Court by a Republican President, appointed Boasberg to the United States Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court in 2014. Judge Boasberg is neither a “Left Lunatic” nor an Obama judge. He is a relatively conservative judge committed to upholding constitutional principles like checks and balances between the three branches of the federal government.
While Donald Trump is busy rallying his supporters against the federal judiciary, federal judges involved in cases trying to prevent Trump from ignoring the law, face a wave of threats including the mass delivery of unordered pizzas, a statement “We know where you live.” At the same time, billionaire MAGA and DOGE Trump ally Elon Musk is donating money to the reelection campaigns of Republican Congressional Representatives who are supporting Trump’s call for the impeachment of judges who question the legality of his actions and in Wisconsin, a Musk supported political action committee is offering voters $100 each to sign a petition opposing “activist judges.”
