3/23 Weekend edition of Dems, Dems and more Dems... [1]

Date: 2025-03-23

Lots going on these past few days, especially as the republicans and tyrants continue to unleash their destructive attacks on our democracy and economy.

Now is the time for us to take action too!

Find an event near you and join it. This group, 50501 is popular, and of course, there are others that you can find with an internet search. Alternatively, make your own protest. Create a sign and stand on a busy corner in your town/neighborhood. Maybe you can get someone to join you, too. I do this on Fridays with 2 friends. It’s fun and it feels really good.

Do Postcards to Voters. There are special elections coming up that are really important. You do have to invest a little bit of money to buy postcards and stamps, but again, it feels really good to ‘do something’.

Support Democrats at all levels. This one should be obvious, but I think it can be overlooked. Sign up for your Democratic members’ newsletters. Follow them on social media. Donate if you’re able. Only by flipping congress will possibly be able to stop/reduce the worst actions of this administration.

Talk to your friends, family and neighbors. Make sure they’re registered to vote, that they vote, and vote for Democrats.

There are more, and I’d love to hear what you’re doing, especially if it’s something that’s not on this list.

Ok, here’s the scoop:

x We should honor our military heroes who answered the call to serve. Instead, Trump and Hegseth are trying to erase their legacies.

x Trump just signed an executive order to dismantle the Dept of Education.

What is the plan?

x With the support of Republicans in Congress, Donald Trump just followed through on his plan to gut the Department of Education. This means kids kicked out of kindergarten, special education slashed, and teachers fired. This reckless and irrational move will devastate our future — — Congresswoman Yassamin Ansari (@repyassansari.bsky.social) March 20, 2025 at 2:11 PM

x Once again, the Trump Admin is weaponizing law enforcement against somebody who has not been charged with a crime. This is not normal or legal in the United States of America.

When the government starts grabbing individuals off the street and detaining them without charges, NO… — Rep. Mikie Sherrill (@RepSherrill) March 20, 2025

x Trump's EO to dismantle @usedgov.bsky.social undermines the foundation of public education in our country. I hosted a roundtable with local school district superintendents to discuss the long-term impacts on students, faculty, and schools if the department ceased to exist in its current form.

That these cuts are made to fund a tax… — Adam Schiff (@SenAdamSchiff) March 20, 2025

x Flouting Congress & breaking laws again. By STATUTE, the Dept of Education oversees special education. Trump cannot simply move it to HHS. Members of Congress should be outraged & my fellow special needs parents should fight to keep RFK Jr. out of special education. www.nytimes.com/2025/03/21/u...

x If Donald Trump is successful in cutting Medicaid, no state has the money to backfill the billions of dollars in funding. Blood will be on the hands of his administration and Republicans in Congress. Now is the time to stand up for Medicaid, working families, and each other.
