March Madness (Writ YUGE) [1]

Over nine decades ago, a felon effectively pegged himself a democratic republic’s ‘lord protector’ from purported communist arson- and so claimed total power. In Germany and beyond, things did not pan out well.
Fast forward. March 23, 2025 marks the 92nd anniversary of Deutschland’s parliament passing, at the behest of its chancellor, an omnibus, almighty “Enabling Act.” Disabling the legislature into a rubber stamp, on 3/23/1933 the Act bestowed total, unchecked power on Adolf Hitler.
This in line with his fascist role model: Italy’s Benito “Drain The Swamp” Mussolini. (What ever could go wrong?)
Let it be stressed. On our side of the pond, a hard right twist on “exceptionalism” connotes ‘anything US powers-that-be have touted (from slavery to Presidential immunity) must be deemed excellent (if not ordained by God)’. Trouble is, even a glance at the backstory to 3/23/33 (and the slavery-roiled Reich that ensued) hits all too close to home. Better late than never, let’s conjure with it.
On 4/1/1924, for leading a 1923 coup attempt (in which a bystander, 4 cops, and 14 Nazis died), Hitler was convicted of high treason. (Distinction: unlike some high US officials in 2021, he stood smack in the thick of things, wielding a gun.) For doing so, by law he could have been put to death. Or thrown behind bars for life.
Instead, he was sentenced to 5 years (in what we might call a rather cushy cell). He wound up serving a small fraction of that. Not to mention: during his risibly brief 9 months in stir, the future Fuhrer dictated (to 2 fellow inmates) the seditious, solipsistic screed which, when promptly published, wound up spreading his hatred like wildfire.
Four words: Mein Kampf, my foot.
On 12/20/1924, through Landsberg Prison’s gates, out he strolled. Free! (Which, less than a decade on, turned out to be more than any other German could credibly claim. Oh, well!)
So, Americans cried foul. Or didn’t. Even the New York Times saw fit to chirp that he’d “learned his lesson.” (Plainly enough, his actual, learned by heart skills comprised lying. Inciting. Playing the victim. Demagoguing. Smearing. Narrative flipping. And fundamentally demonizing to the point of moving hearts and souls to wreak evil, inhuman atrocities against purported subhumans. Shame.)
Of course, no such stuff can happen here. But still. The optics in the above pic don’t bode well. Nor do those in the J6 clips (on the Ellipse nor at the Capitol). Better late than never, let’s make bold to query: can any frank, decent, patriotic citizen not see Elon-gating shadows boding hell on Earth?
