Just the Facts, Ma'an: Weekly Canvass Wrap up from AZ, FL, GA, NV, NC, TX & VA [1]

33 Arizonians filled out Constituent Service Requests. We send completed CSRs to Democratic elected officials responsible for the requested functions, but if the appropriate office is held by a Republican, we still send it along. For Democrats, though, we encourage them to reach out immediately to the voter who filled out the Constituent Service Request forms and let them know they are working on the issue. This credit-taking is enormously valuable to the Democratic office-holder. 1 voter filled out an Incident Report.
18% of the voters we talked to said they approved of the job that Trump was doing. 42% disapproved. There is no senate race next year in Arizona, but we are asking about job approval for the Republican Members of Congress in these 2 districts. 5% approved and 37% disapproved. 45% approved of the job Gov. Hobbs is doing while 6% disapproved.
We are asking voters if they approve of the sudden and deep cuts in federal programs and agencies led by Elon Musk. 4% of the voters we talked to supported DOGE and House Republican efforts to cut the federal government. 47% disapproved.
Grocery Prices was the Number 1 issue for the Arizonans we talked to. Housing Availability, Costs and Housing Insurance Costs was second and Border Access was third. Arizona has joined Texas with voters complaining about how difficult it had become to cross over into Mexico.
In Arizona, 78 volunteers came out to knock on doors in the Phoenix metro area. Cold weather prevented canvassing in the Tucson area again. We knocked on 5,639 doors and talked to 452 voters. 288 of those voters answered at least some of the questions on our Issues Survey. We registered 1 new voter and re-registered 8 voters.
Florida
In Florida, we were two weeks away from the special election in FL-06, so we are knocking on doors on Saturdays and Sundays there. GOTV with early voting begins today.
158 volunteers came out last Saturday and 78 on Sunday, knocked on 17,189 doors and talked to 1,409 voters in northern Volusia and southern Flagler counties. 902 voters responded to questions. 82 voters filled out Constituent Service Requests. 3 voters filled out Incident Reports, citing potential problems they had witnessed in a prior election.
The Top Issue in Florida last Saturday was Inflation; Economic Uncertainty was the Number 1 issue on Sunday. Prices was #2 on Saturday and Housing Availability, Costs and Housing Insurance Costs was the second most frequently cited Issue on Sunday. On Saturday, Tariffs (!) was third.
On Saturday, 15% of the voters we talked to supported DOGE and House Republican efforts and on Sunday, 16% said they approved. 45% disapproved on Saturday and 43% disapproved on Sunday. On Saturday, 18% of the voters we talked to said they approved of the job that Trump was doing; 19% approved on Sunday. 41% disapproved on Saturday and 38% on Sunday.
We ask voters if they plan to vote in the special and a number say they are planning on it. We’ve been asking those who said they did if they had a plan on how/when they will vote. More people than we expect to turn out say they will vote, which we expect to have a low turnout. Regardless, we ask those who say they will vote in the special who they plan to support. On Saturday, 31% of the voters who said they planned to vote in the special election said they’d support the Democrat. Many of these did not know who the Democrat was (Josh Weil), but they knew they would vote for the D. On Sunday, 25% said they would vote for Weil.
On Saturday, 26% of the voters who said they planned to vote in the special said they would vote for MAGA Randy Fine. On Sunday, 31% said they would vote for Fine. We also ask about how voters feel about the job the governor is doing. On Saturday, 41% said they approved and 29% said they’d disapprove; on Sunday, 39% said they approved while 34% said they disapproved.
Georgia
231 volunteers came out to knock on doors last Saturday. We knocked on 16,793 doors and talked to 1,326 voters. 853 of those voters answered at least some of our questions.
We registered 21 new voters (as part of our Until Justice is Real project, we had our first set of Divine Nine canvassers) and re-registered 14 voters. 85 voters filled out Constituent Service Request forms. 7 voters filled out Incident Reports.
Jobs (or Job Insecurity) was the Top Issue in Georgia on Saturday. Prices was second. Economic Instability was third.
5% of the voters we talked to supported DOGE and House Republican efforts to cut the federal government. 41% disapproved. 9% of the voters we talked to said they approved of the job that Trump was doing. 38% disapproved. 41% of voters we talked to said they approved of the job Jon Ossoff was doing in the Senate; 4% said they disapproved. 37% approved of the job Gov. Kemp is doing while 31% disapproved.
Nevada
22 volunteers came out to knock on doors in Nevada in the Las Vegas area. For whatever reason, volunteers in Nevada are depressed or less eager than elsewhere. We knocked on 1,533 doors and volunteers talked to 121 voters. 77 of those voters answered questions.
We registered re-registered 2 voters. 5 voters filled out Constituent Service Request forms.
Inflation was the Number 1 Issue in Nevada on Saturday. Housing Concerns were second.
6% of the voters we talked to supported DOGE and House Republican efforts to cut the federal government. 42% disapproved. 18% of the voters we talked to said they approved of the job that Trump was doing. 38% disapproved. There is no senate race next year in Arizona, but we are asking about job approval for the Members of Congress in these districts. 44% approved and 18% disapproved. 19% approved of the job Gov. Lombardo is doing while 24% disapproved.
North Carolina
194 volunteers came out to knock on doors in North Carolina. We knocked on 14,103 doors and talked to 1,184 voters. 751 of those voters answered questions from our Issues Survey.
We registered 34 new voters (all African-American) and re-registered 23 voters. 51 voters filled out Constituent Service Request forms. 1 voter filled out an Incident Report.
Inflation was the Number 1 Issue in North Carolina. Housing-related Issues was second. Job Security was third.
5% of the voters we talked to supported DOGE and House Republican efforts to cut the federal government. 43% disapproved. 18% of the voters we talked to said they approved of the job that Trump was doing. 38% disapproved. 15% approved of the job Thom Tillis was doing in the Senate; 39% disapproved. 44% approved of the job Gov. Stein is doing while 11% disapproved.
Texas
241 volunteers came out to knock on doors on Saturday in Texas. We knocked on 17,761 doors and talked to 1,438 voters. 920 of those voters answered at least some of our questions.
We registered 33 new voters and re-registered 37 voters. 127 voters filled out Constituent Service Request forms and 4 voters filled out Incident Reports.
Inflation was the Top Issue in Texas last weekend. Tariffs was second and Border Security and Access was third. Some voters complained about being searched to get into Mexico. Border problems largely due to the agreement the administration has made with Mexico.
9% of the voters we talked to supported DOGE and House Republican efforts to cut the federal government. 44% disapproved. 18% of the voters we talked to said they approved of the job that 35% disapproved. 7% approved of the job John Cornyn was doing in the Senate; 44% disapproved. 14% approved of the job Gov. Abbott is doing while 41% disapproved.
Virginia
72 volunteers came out to knock on doors on Saturday in southern Virginia. We knocked on 4,932 doors and talked to 389 voters. 249 of those voters answered at least some of our questions.
We re-registered 3 voters. 16 voters filled out Constituent Service Request forms.
Jobs was the Top Issue in Virginia last weekend. Prices was second.
4% of the voters we talked to supported DOGE and House Republican efforts to cut the federal government. 53% disapproved. 11% of the voters we talked to said they approved of the job that 44% disapproved. 53% approved of the job Mark Warner was doing in the Senate; 7% disapproved. 12% approved of the job Gov. Youngkin is doing while 38% disapproved.
