OF Blood moon and the Ides of March: Spring on the Oak Prairie:
“...by the shining big sea waters stands the wigwam of Nokomis, daughter of the moon, Nokomis”... from Hiawatha, by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow.
Any mention of the moon and I’m always reminded of this passage. First,
A gentle reminder of how we do things: 🐱🐶🐦
Do not troll the diary. If you hate pootie diaries, leave now. No harm, no foul.
Please do share pics of your fur kids! If you have health/behavior issues with your pets, feel free to bring it to the community.
Pooties are cats; Woozles are dogs. Birds... are birds! Peeps are people.
Whatever happens in the outer blog STAYS in the outer blog. If you’re having “issues” with another Kossack, keep it “out there.” This is a place to relax and play; please treat it accordingly. There are some pics we never post: snakes, creepy crawlies, any and all photos that depict or encourage human cruelty toward animals. These are considered “out of bounds” and will not be tolerated. If we alert you to it, please remember that we do have phobic peeps who react strongly to them. If you keep posting banned pics...well then...the Tigress will have to take matters in hand. Or, paws.
A Blood Moon in some spiritual traditions is often associated the feminine energy of a goddess and is said to represent the cyclical nature of life and death.
Some American Indian tribes believe that a blood moon is a “time when the veil between the living and the dead is thinnest, allowing communication with ancestors.”
The Blood Moon has long been associated with transformation and change.
And the Ides of March you ask? Ides of March, a symbol of both celebration and caution that falls on March 15th in the Roman calendar. We all know of the infamous Caesar murder known through history as Shakespeare presented in “his late 16h century classic” some have called of his Julius Caesar. Caution as in: Celebration as in: so what has either have to do with the Oak Prairie; after temps increasing all week till Friday, the 14th, it was 80 degrees, first day making ice cubes since late October, actually a little too warm for me, as it got very windy so a very pleasant day I felt, no winter coats, no scarves, no hats, no gloves, just free and easy. Storms came through, high wind warnings afternoon till through the middle of that Saturday (3/15) with much needed rain, though not downpours, temps dropping all day till freezing overnight, yes blood moon and Ides of March after 80 degrees Friday... that Sunday morning.
Transformation, as in celebration and caution, spring on the Oak Prairie and one must be careful trying to count winter out too soon.
Yet Wisp didn’t care one whit, she has her favorite cardboard and noon spoonful of tuna, so let the winds blow.
Was reminded by NPR that today is JS Bach’s 340th birthday.
Must pop out briefly mid-day shouldn’t be gone too long. Stay safe this weekend, peeps, pooties, woozles, and feathered friends.
