J.D. Vance and Your Buddy Trump– “Never Again “ Means Now February 14, 2025
Most of us know the old saying, “Watch what we do, not what we say.” The Nixon administration often quoted that saying to tell liberals and moderates that it’s making reactionary comments to appease their Southern supporters was irrelevant because they really were advocates and “champions” of decency. Of course, that administration was far from “decent” and what they said was exactly what they did–giving far right supporters just about everything they wanted and starting to make the GOP into the extremist cult it is today. Well, the Trump administration, especially in its 2.0 comeback, does Nixon’s crew one “better” (NOT). IMHO, their slogan really is, “Watch what we believe, not how we act.” J.D. Vance repeatedly tells Jewish voters and others worried about Trump’s bigoted views, extremist supporters, and controversial Cabinet picks, that they are far from anti-semitic or anti-any other group. After all, Demagogue Donald’s loyal lap-dog J.D. Vance, while in Europe to attend the Munich Security Conference, visited the site of the infamous Dachau concentration camp, the first such camp put up by the Nazis, near Munich, when they took power to imprison and murder political opponents, anti-Nazi resisters, and, ultimately, Jews during the Holocaust.
Please, don’t be fooled by such optics. J.D. Vance and all the other Trump officials can visit as many former concentration camp sites as they want to, 24/7, but that really means nothing to them. Any administration that has as its top adviser, really “co-president” S. African-born wacko Elon Musk, has no credibility whatsoever when it claims to be non-bigoted. Musk, of course, made a gesture that most reasonable people understand to have been the Nazi salute and then made Holocaust jokes on the social network X. More recently, Vance successfully pushed Musk to rehire a staffer who had publicly self-identified as a racist.
And remember Pete Hegseth? This horribly underqualified former Fox News commentator that Trump’s spineless GOP Senate majority confirmed to be Secretary of Defense invited anti-semitic right wing conspiracy theorist Jack Prosobiec to accompany him on a trip to Europe. Prosobiec has been labeled the “King of Fake News.” He prominently pushed on social media the fake Pizzagate conspiracy theory which falsely claimed that Hillary Clinton and other high-ranking officials were involved in a child-sex ring at a D.C. pizzeria, according to CNN. A deranged N. Carolina man came with a weapon to this pizzeria and almost caused a violent incident there because of this conspiratorial Prosobiec nonsense.
If Trump, J.D. Vance, and their ilk really believed in the saying “Never Again,” which means no repetition of the Holocaust, they would not have put Hegseth in charge of the Pentagon, and would have stayed miles away from the likes of Elon Musk. It’s all fine to talk about “Never Again” when dealing with the past. However, as most of us understand, “Never Again” means saying “NO” to anti-semitism, racism in general, and xenophobia right NOW.
