Musings for Friday - R-E-S-P-E-C-T. If You're Claiming You're Not Getting It, There's a Reason. [1]

Trump and the rest of his WATB administration keep whining that they aren’t getting the respect they think they deserve. And, if they’re not given it they’re going to punish you. (Unless you’re name is Elon and you’ve purchased them. Then you can disrespect them and Donald and all of his Cabinet.)
The list of quotes about respect is something one earns and can neither be demanded nor coerced are numerous. Titles and positions don’t automatically come with respect. While the title/position may come with respect, the occupant still has to earn respect.
Respect is a two-way street, if you want to get it, you've got to give it.
Pakistani Beggar King Hussein Nishah (1538–1599), who wrote, “Treat people the way you want to be treated. Talk to people the way you want to be talked to. Respect is earned, not given.”
I’ve always been taught that in order to earn respect you have to give respect. And that brings us to another word. Reciprocity.
Merriam-Webster defines reciprocity as; : the quality or state of being reciprocal : mutual dependence, action, or influence the quality or state of being reciprocaldependence, action, or influence : a mutual exchange of privileges
Reciprocity is the guiding principle of respect. You have to give it to get it. And Trump and all those around him are incapable of giving respect.
