I agree wholeheartedly with the writer who reminds us to remember who the enemy is. Democrats, even in our imperfection, offered a viable, credible, knowledgeable, experienced, and caring candidate for President. But for whatever the reason, from small mindedness to incredible evil, our candidate lost. Had she won, the best parts of America, evidenced by its attempt to promote the notion of “of the people, for the people, and by the people,” would still be alive for the most part. Nothing that man does is completely free of corruption, that is the nature of the flesh. However, man also has the capacity to be good and do good, to distinguish between right and wrong, a lie from the truth, and to consider the plight of those with less. Democrats attempted to hold Trump accountable through the impeachment process, but could not count on Republicans to renounce the horrible actions of “their guy.” It was party before the American people, no matter the harm imposed as a result of the wicked behavior. Therefore, during and after Trump’s first term in office, he faced no accountability for his actions, habitualized lying, did not advocate for the best interests of the American people, could not play fair with the rest of the world, attempted to undermine the democracy to enrich himself, and laid the groundwork to fulfill those craven desires that we see in action right how, in front of our faces. The Republican party is to blame for the current state of affairs—period. But for their inaction and actions, we would not be in this position. But party affiliation will not save us from destruction, what will save us is if Americans, who care about each other and the rest of the world. unite and stand together in the face of the evil that surrounds us and resist in thought, word, and deed, the forces of evil that aim to destroy this nation and the freedoms and protections that many have fought and died for. No more pointing fingers, no more blame game, no more “if only, or what ifs”—let’s get to work, individually and collectively, to confront every lie with the truth, every inaction with action, and every fear with hope--while never becoming tired. Much is at stake.
