Am I Alone? [1]

This will be short. I’m a staunch Democrat but I’m as unhappy with everyone else about Chuck Schumer and the other nine senators who caved in to Trump and the republicans. But why do we, as American voters do this over and over again? We put Democrats in the minority with little to no power to effect the changes we want then we scream about them doing nothing or not fighting hard enough. Republican voters always vote. Democratic voters sometimes vote. Democrats, when in the majority don’t always do all the things we want but they don’t actively pass laws and enact policies to hurt us like the Republicans. I see former Republicans on TV every day,Steve Schmit, Nicholle Wallace, Tim Miller and many others criticizing the Democrats and their lack of a resistance to Trump and Musk. OK. I like these people and generally agree with them but it’s their fucking (former) party that’s causing the crises in this country. They largely helped to set us on this path to authoritarianism. After Trump was elected in 2016 we saw massive protests in this country and abroad. Joe Biden gave us four years of stability and some progress on things I want. But then many Democrats stayed home or even switched back to vote for Trump (or against Kamala Harris) in 2024. Now again we’re seeing massive protests both here and abroad. Wouldn’t it be so much better and much easier to simply go vote for Democrats EVERY election like Republicans do and keep progressives in the majority to do the things we want them to? Can we not do that? I agree with many other people that Schumer needs to go away, old people who have served for WAY too long need to be put out to pasture but come on. The Republicans voted for Strom Thurmand until he was 100 years, Grassley is 91. We have some great young legislators in our party that will do the right thing if given the chance. Let’s quit trashing our own party and focus that energy on the Republicans but above all GO VOTE EVERY ELECTION for Democrats. Well, actually it may already be too late. Never mind.
