STOP LEAVING THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY. For the love of all that is good [1]

All you’re doing by leaving the Democratic Party and registering as Independent is reducing the percentage of the party that is 1) leftist, and 2) angry. Perhaps you think it doesn’t matter, but when the party shifts just a percentage point or two away from true progressive ideals? IT DOES FRIGGIN’ MATTER. It tilts the Democrats even further towards centrism.
As a Democrat, you get to vote in Democratic primaries. As an Independent (with very few exceptions) you absolutely do not. So the result will inevitably, logically be that of fewer progressive candidates in national campaigns.

And if the Democratic Party becomes more centrist, that’ll be partly on you for fleeing your responsibilty. Take the damn party back, don’t throw away your power.
EDIT: Also, the party becomes less a reflection of you and people like you when you leave. If you have opinions about this country that you genuinely think are worth hearing, the only route you have is the Democrats or the Republicans. This is a reality-based take.
FURTHER EDIT: The reason you don’t like the Democratic Party is that others have fled it in previous years rather than take it over. The party reflects those who are in it, it doesn’t reflect those who flee. I guarantee no mainstream Democrat will know or care that you threw a tantrum and left. But the leftists who stay in the party to fight for its soul care deeply: you’re just making the fight that much harder.
