'Like the stoic captain of the Titanic, Edward Smith, Schumer must go down with his ship' [1]

ONE MUST MARVEL at the turn of events, in which a Long Island real estate developer named Witkoff is being dispatched to Moscow to talk about Ukrainian land and power plants. In this way, Ukrainian sovereignty is being carved up between Washington and Moscow. Ukraine is dependent on the US for the supplies to defend itself. The Trump administration seems all too willing to consider feeding Ukrainians to the wolves, ie. seems to be lacking basic humanity. But what would you expect from a government that wants to deport the Palestinians and turn their graveyards into an entertainment complex?

What I don't understand is this: what does the US get for undermining its own alliances and crashing the economy with ridiculous tariffs? The Republicans have already swallowed that they might have to endure a recession, even though there was no need for one and it is self created. Likewise, there was no need to antagonize the Canadians, or the Danes for that matter. These are all self-created problems. This is what is called suicidal statecraft. You are watching the country kill itself in a way. A very strange thing. Here one does wonder if Trump is doing Russia's bidding, because what more would the Russians like than for the US to take itself out of the game? He is also doing China's bidding.

I am reminded of that theory about the suicidal pilot who flew the Malaysian airplane eight hours in the wrong direction (though some say it didn't happen). Are we like those ill-fated MH370 passengers?

Then you have the Democrats and Schumer, who the president says is no longer Jewish, but bends over to support his bill to avert something worse. Well, what can be worse than what is already going on? Might he at least ask for a public apology in exchange for his support? No, no, turn the other cheek. Like the stoic captain of the Titanic, Edward Smith, Schumer must go down with his ship. "Keep calm and carry on, lads."

The only bright spot has been Macron who said that the West does not need Russia's permission to station troops in Ukraine. It is clear that Russia does not want that, because that will make it harder for Russia to finish the job of destroying Ukraine. They can't abandon their desire to destroy their neighbor because then their Leader might have been wrong with his theories of imperial renewal. Then what do they do? They might have to invest in their own country. Or actually build a government that isn't completely corrupt. Maybe alternative younger leaders might emerge who want to do other things? Can't allow that. Full speed ahead.

(And then there will be a great war, which Russia will win, because Russia always wins wars (except for in 1905 and in 1917 and ...) and Putin will reign triumphant, and there will be Russian tanks in Paris. At last, the USSR will have been avenged and Putin can finally rest!)
