Getting Schumered isn't over yet [1]

I, like may of you, am not too happy about what Senator Schumer just did to the Democratic Party, to the Trump Opposition and to the Republic. Virtually no Democrats have sided with him on his monumental miscalculation, but of course — at least one person was very happy. If getting congratulated by Trump weren’t proof enough to convince folks that getting Schumered is a bad thing, then the immediate commentary coming from the GOP that they intend to use the exact same tactics again to push ever more radical legislation through Congress should do the trick.

Let’s step back though for a moment and define — “Getting Schumered.”

This represents the surprising and unilateral surrender of a party leader w/o even consulting with or pretending to support the rest of the party. It is not a minor surrender either, but one that simultaneously deflated the entire Opposition agenda while getting nothing in return. It is accompanied with preposterous rationalizations that only the most out of touch or those working against you would be willing to agree with (in this case, the nonsensical idea that by avoiding a shutdown Trump would not do all of the stuff he’s already doing anyhow).

But make no mistake, Senator Schumer and his inactions are already having a massive ripple effect. The GOP has been both empowered and emboldened — the do nothing / think nothing Democratic Party strategy of hoping that the GOP would fall apart has actually ended up supercharging them. And as of today, Trump is openly disregarding even more court rulings and his minions are rushing forward to redouble their efforts on all fronts. And they can do this because they are confident that they are dealing with a weakling who will cave at the slightest pressure — and right now Senator Chuck Schumer is a single point of failure for the entire Republic. This is a bully’s wet dream.

Worse still, Senator Schumer is still, today even — going around making the ridiculous claim that the decision was too tough to make and that the Democrats couldn’t survive the bad press (even though polls showed otherwise). He also kept insisting that a temporary shutdown should somehow be equated with the permanent dismantling of the Federal Government — talk about a false Dichotomy! That’s like comparing the fish from Finding Nemo with Jaws — yet he keeps saying it with a straight face.

Schumer has got to go — now. Every minute that he remains in any sort of leadership role is a liability and weakness for America, one that will continue to be exploited again and again to further Trump & Musk’s Agenda.
