We need Obama, Clinton, Harris, & Dark Brandon to be like Hasan Minhaj! [1]

It seems remarkable that Barack, Joe, Kamala, and to some extent Hillary, are all missing in action as Trump tramples their legacies into dust!

These four, as ex-presidents and ex-vice-presidents, are probably the ONLY Democrats who might make a dent in the corporate media’s hear-no-evil, see-no-evil, speak-no-evil mindset. If any of them loudly speak truth to Trump he’ll of course have over-the-top responses, creating an audience demand the corporate media won’t be able to ignore.

But we all know the Democratic media-as-usual speeches, interviews, podcasts, guest appearances here and there, etc., are pretty worthless nowadays. If we’re really serious about winning the mid-terms (over ever-increasing Republican voter suppression), we need a radical change to reach “undecideds” and change their minds.

To make best use of our four dormant weapons, each needs their own high-profile show. It would preferably be at least a half hour weekly to keep up with events and repeatedly stress important points. In today’s world, these shows must be available to EVERYBODY on YouTube, with clips and links everywhere on ALL social media (TikTok, Facebook, Instagram, Threads, Bluesky, especially X, etc.).

Most importantly, these shows CANNOT BE PEOPLE SITTING AROUND AND TALKING. We can’t expect anyone these days to tune in and pay attention to such talk. Rather, many people need to be engaged by constant visual motion and emotional sound – videos, graphs, cartoons, sound effects, parody songs, etc.

So how can that be done? Somehow it’s comedians such as Hasan Minhaj, Jon Stewart, Stephen Colbert, and John Oliver who have a proven format for opposing the Far Right: show its hypocrisy, grifting, and psychopathy through entertaining videos and giving the real historical context, rather than letting the Far Right get away with making up shit and spreading it far and wide.

Hasan Minhaj went particularly big on this format in his popular weekly Patriot Act show, 2018-2020. The show was on Netflix plus its own channel on YouTube, where all 40 episodes can still be found – and typically have close to 5 million views. In each episode he tackled a different topic by humorously explaining key points illustrated with a constant flux of images on a huge video screen behind him.

Imagine if Barack, Hillary, Kamala, and even Dark Brandon likewise strode around a big stage in front of huge video screens giving a master class about one of their key accomplishments – how it helped Americans, what Republicans have since done to get rid of it, and how losing it makes Americans far worse off. They have the standing and gravitas to really have impact and change some minds, as clips from these shows get shared and forwarded across the Internet.
