Trump has ushered in a new era of America destroying itself
On December 16, 1773, American citizens rebelled against the laws of the British king, the democratic and liberal efforts began that led to the founding of the United States of America—one of the first modern democracies. Until February 20, 2025, it was one of the strongest and most reliable in the world.
Now you have voluntarily appointed a "Prince John" who churns out insane, inhuman laws like an assembly line. He is doing this in such an erratic way that he is not only destroying the economy and trade, but also the reliability and good reputation of the USA in the whole world in general. What he doesn’t do himself, his “Sheriffs of Nottingham”—Musk and Vance—will take care of.
The first casualties: Welfare and Education
The first thing to go is welfare. No more foreign aid—ruthlessly cut, without even a transition period to allow alternative support. Let refugees in African camps starve—American politics don’t seem to care.
Next up: the already meager American social benefits. The “Sheriff of Nottingham” claims millions of 119-year-olds are fraudulently receiving welfare—an absurd excuse to stir up resentment and prepare the groundwork for mass public sector layoffs.
“Prince John” is also slashing university funding, essential for the survival of American science and research. He plans to shut down the Department of Education, shifting responsibilities to the states—a death sentence for an education system already lagging far behind Europe.
Does he want Americans to become dumber? Maybe so no one notices the gradual transformation of democracy into an authoritarian oligarchy. In the long term, this will result in the USA losing its leading position in global research and science.
But nothing is happening.
Where is Christian compassion? I thought America was a Christian nation. Where is the compassion, while African refugees starve and Ukrainian soldiers die fighting for freedom? Shouldn’t this outrage the entire Bible Belt?
But nothing is happening.
What happened to law and democracy? I thought you valued the rule of law.
If a Black man is handled too harshly by the police, thousands march in protest - which is justified. But when “Prince John” seizes control of government institutions, dismantles democracy, and consolidates power—where is the outrage? Where are the checks and balances meant to prevent tyranny?
Nothing is happening.
A convicted felon in the White House
Not long ago, you impeached a president over a few bugs. Now you have a tax-cheating, sexual predator, shameless liar, convicted felon—the son of a millionaire, born with a silver spoon in his ass, pretending to be anti-establishment while living in luxury with his millions, golf courses, and palaces. Why does no one see this blatant lie, duplicity and brazenness?
He insults democratic allies and kisses the feet of a communist dictator who waged war on a small, nearly defenseless country. “Prince John” swaps aggressor and victim, and nobody steps in.
Aid to Ukraine? Cut off— with no transition period to allow adjustments- than turned on again, and again in such an erratic manner that no one in Ukraine can really feel protected. That will spell the downfall of a nation that refuses to surrender to Putin’s tyranny. Europe alone cannot replace U.S. support overnight. Protection only comes in exchange for valuable natural resources - can the lives of soldiers and civilians currently be bought in American politics? What a terrible change from an honorable world power that has always stood up for freedom, democracy and human rights to a greedy merchant who walks over corpses. And yet, no one stops him.
Nothing is happening.
Economic suicide—have you learned nothing?
“Prince John” promises to "Make America Great Again" by imposing massive tariffs. People cheer.
Does no one remember 1930? The Smoot-Hawley Tariff? The Great Depression?
If “Prince John” continues this reckless approach, America will soon be completely isolated from global markets. Even the biggest economy cannot survive in isolation.
But nothing is happening.
These were just a few examples, as I write this, more strange decrees have probably been added.
A Machiavellian narcissist with creeping dementia is running your country
Your leader is a Machiavellian narcissist with creeping dementia—manipulative, power-hungry, and devoid of empathy.
Small example: On November 30, 2018, he negotiated and signed a major trade deal with Canada and Mexico, boasting about how great it was. Today, he rants: "What idiot made this deal? I would never sign something like that!" And no one calls him out? No one dares to stop him?
Nothing is happening.
Conclusion: America’s future is at stake
“Prince John” and his reckless strategy are leading the U.S. to disaster:
A creeping transformation from democracy to autocracy
The loss of strategic alliances
Severe economic damage, depression, and inflation
A weakened global position
A rise of China and Russia as the new superpowers
The U.S. may be a superpower, but it is not self-sufficient. Alienating allies will lead to long-term geopolitical and economic disaster.
America urgently needs help right now - but:
Where is Robin Hood (the Democrats)?
Where are Little John and Friar Tuck (the Republicans who still have courage and brains)?
Where is Maid Marian (the people rising up against autocracy and abuse of power)?
And the biggest question: Will your country survive until King Richard returns?
(A strong, charismatic democratic leader—who, unfortunately, has yet to emerge.)
Or has “Prince John” already sent his henchmen to eliminate him?(An autocracy where free elections no longer exist.)
But as I said, not many seem to care, nothing is happening.
Half of America worships a power-hungry maniac.The other half is paralyzed in shock.
A few scientists and intellectuals see the storm coming. They protest. But they are a tiny minority.
Nothing is happening.
No mass protests.
No courts banging their gavel on the court table and taking the sceptre out of the emperor's hand.
O! say does that star-spangled banner yet wave, O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave?

I am Karen Gerlach, I live in Germany, am 60 years old, belong to the middle class and am not a member of any political party or association. I also have no intention of interfering in American politics, as Musk did in our last elections. That is not my place and I do not want to give such an impression. I just want to send a wake-up call to the Americans, born out of deep concern. As a German in particular, I cannot ignore the disturbing similarities to the way people in our country kept silent in 1933 and failed to take the warning signs seriously.
Perhaps we do not have a complete picture of the situation in the USA here. I can only report on what is arriving here in Europe and what we are seeing is that there is no great resistance, no national outcry of indignation - although it would be more than justified. Some people are taking to the streets, yes, that's true. But measured by how many US citizens did not vote for Trump and reject his policies, they are few and far between. If something really significant were to happen, it would be in the headlines worldwide and we in Europe would notice it too.
Over 90 years ago, the history of our country and that of the world painfully demonstrated the consequences of silently allowing a power-hungry narcissist to take control of a nation.
Please wake up and don't make the same mistake we did back then!
