Freedom Understood! [1]

My dad, in a precious fit of wisdom, once told me when I was very young, on the cusp of entering the work force: "You don't live to work," he said. "You work to live." Although this wasn't something new and revolutionary, it was new and revolutionary to me at 15-and-a-half.

Young and naive about the world at large.

Now that my indentured servitude to banks and our corporate overlords is done, I'll add to my father's sage wisdom:

It's better to strive for effortlessness while navigating through the reality of the social pressures of blind conformity and compliance and fealty to a system that's never served you.

Do not live to work. There's no nobility in that.

Live life on your own terms. Pursuing your own self-interests while being kind to others. Give no credence to the ethical concerns that have been forced upon you by the self-interests of the powers-that-be who have gained everything at your expense while giving nothing, nothing, in return.

Fuck 'em. Give 'em a thumb in the eye.
