Stupid is, as Stupid Does [1]

Well, I just can’t get over how stupid Senator Schumer’s surprise move today to support the GOP CR Cloture vote was. I think that it’s going to down as the dumbest political act since the Democratic Party supported Joe Biden for reelection in 2024 and possibly dumber. We’ve been Schumered…
Whether the Democratic Party can survive this remains to be seen. So, just why is it so bad? Let’s review the mess Chuck has left us:
There is a very good chance that all of the positive pushback against the Trump agenda that we’d been getting recently has just been stifled. Schumer didn’t even hold out for one day, he just immediately caved. And now, he’s on the record for enabling all of the worst things that we’ve all been protesting over the past weeks; (cuts to Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid — $150 billion for ICE prison camps and more).
Worse than that, by helping to legitimize DOGE, he’s immediately killed nearly every lawsuit poised to challenge it. DOGE will now run rampant, and he let it happen. One of his excuses is that shutting down the Government would close the Courts who were the main stop-gap against Trump’s agenda — yet he just shut down the Courts with this action — it’s a truly stunning piece of circular logic on his part. Who’s on First here, Chuck?
DOGE will now run rampant, and he let it happen. One of his excuses is that shutting down the Government would close the Courts who were the main stop-gap against Trump’s agenda — yet he just shut down the Courts with this action — it’s a truly stunning piece of circular logic on his part. Who’s on First here, Chuck? And he refused to coordinate with House Democrats who were responding to both Democratic and Republican voters trying to stop the madness — it was a complete betrayal of half the party and a betrayal of the entire Democratic base who expected at least a little pushback.
The Result — Schumer just gave Trump a huge and completely inexplicable and unexpected win, right when we were making some headway. He appeased the Autocrat and will get absolutely nothing in return for it except the chaos he’s now brought upon the Democratic Party.
Then after all of that, Senator Schumer had the nerve to call his action “courageous” this afternoon after the Cloture vote (in the face of all the wrath coming from us goofy voters who actually expected him to grow a spine).
He explained that closing the Government for a few days would be soooo much worse than politically than allowing Trump to destroy (or deconstruct) it. It was such a horrible, impossible choice (you know, like Sophie’s Choice), he just couldn’t face it — not for one minute.
Ok, how many of these GOP shutdowns have we lived through now and does anyone here remember them being so catastrophic that a party had to cave on everything before experiencing even one minute of the supposed dreaded nightmare? Really??? Where are these Senators coming up with this nonsense — equating what Trump is doing with a few days off? That’s like comparing a rowboat turning over to the Titanic going down. What Trump is doing is permanent folks, destroying one agency after another — and permanent also seems to be the best way to describe the Democratic Party’s never-ending dysfunctional stupidity.
How freaking hard is it to stand up and have the courage to fight for one’s political convictions (as opposed to the having the courage to ignore everyone who ever donated to the DSCC and everyone who ever voted for the Democrats)? Schumer seems to have totally bought into Trump’s DoubleSpeak and is now equating his cowardice with courage — it’s truly frightening folks.
If he doesn’t step down as Senate Minority Leader soon, I’m never donating another dime to a Democratic Senate candidate and I’m thinking about going Independent. Senate Democrats have completely misread the moment and made a mistake of Epic proportions and most Democrats actually understand that. Contrary to the somewhat twisted opinions he voiced today, history is not on Chuck’s side. We need more than a Forrest Gump-like approach — we need actual leadership.
