I don’t get it. I really don’t. The Congress, especially the Senate, was designed 250 years ago to vigorously not get anything done. Wilberforce used all those tricks to eventually outlaw the British slave trade; he ingeniously prohibited the Navy to defend slave ships from pirate which convinced the “donor” class to find another line of trade... Chuck shows no intention to think further than the distance his glasses slide down his nose. He can do it, he is just not up to the task.
This is what I wrote to my two Senators (Wyden and Merkley) of Oregon last night:
I just heard on the news that Schumer has already caved on the CR. Are you kidding me? So we get a CR with drastic slashes in everything *and* you give Trump the power to ignore Congress and spend/cancel whatever he wants? So the Democrats just give up without a fight?
THIS COWARDICE MUST STOP!
I refuse to be part of a political party that grovels in opposition and does nothing when in power. I have consistently donated to you, Sen Wyden, and Susanne Bonamici for years. If you cannot get Schumer a spine then that will stop. I will move my support to someone from Oregon who will. I have not donated to the DNC for this very reason for a long time, only contributing to individual candidates.
I don't vote for or contribute to Quislings
This morning I saw that Pelosi has also spoken out. Good for her. Late but good. It also appears that AOC may primary Chuck in ‘28. Good. Early but yet one more blowtorch up his tailpipe.
All this assumes there is a Congress, let alone a functional one, by then.
