In February, Mel Gibson's publicist, Alan Nierob, confirmed that actor and Special Ambassador to Hollywood Mel Gibson will not be running for Governor of California in 2026 following several weeks of speculation. He still leads polling however. On Fox News, Gibson was asked if he had any message to Governor Gavin Newsom over the reported wildfire failures: Gibson replied: “Spend less on hair gel.”
