Erudite opinions with irony and and moral superiority ……. evidently, don’t change minds. And through meticulous scientific inquiry — we are now finding out that they do not lead to social change and new patterns of behavior — be they economic or social.
I know I know, How can this be? We are sitting at our keyboards pounding away with warnings and facts and science … for decades now — and these under educated morons just don’t listen. If people would just listen and understand what you’re saying … the world would fix itself.
If we expand KOS readership … that'll solve the problem? Right?
No no …. i know — I will write an email and sign an online petition….. hmmmmmmm …. no change
Ok ok… i will send cash to social influencers and websites and people who will do the messaging…… well that sucked, a whole lot of money and no change???
Turn off the computer and engage in the world with a physical contribution that taps into your strengths and makes the world a better place. It will influence others to do the same and break down the walls of political division.
The entire mess we are in is the result of a leverage game that is far better at mass psychology and better funded than you or any of your associations.
Stop taking a paperclip to a nuclear show down.
The right spent money buying up local people and making AstroTurf movements, they then harvested those corrupt fucks and promoted them to higher positions.
it worked — and they made it work by throwing money at it.
It works a whole lot better when free will is the driver and the people engaged find reward in what they do — not in compensation for doing it.
When people engage in their community and world with a passion that is based on the actual work and process that creates a better world and change — they are very hard to move.
Belief precedes reality — so all those arguments for change don’t do shit because they are just words and they are not received as helpful information but as tribal warfare against a team.
Experience changes belief — This is where you come in. When you expose people to the experience you have created — it will change them. it will change you as well. best to focus on what fulfills you — because you will only generate anger and judgement if you try to corral humans into behaviors you have imagined and designed in you head.
So don’t shop today.
Join a community organization the does something you find fulfilling.
Create or participate in public events and activities that require some doing.
Community garden, public concert series, sports team, bird watchers, kayak club, animal shelter, senior visitor, composting center, library story time, tutoring, bike library, tool library, adult education classes on cooking, car repair…. etc… theater, chess club.
Participation ………. remember back in the 80’s when the progressive buzz was all about the theoretical position that we needed “PARTICIPATORY DEMOCRACY” ……….. well ….. decode that ……. at this point in our unfolding national crisis …….. how do we get people out of a cult and into the world that desperately needs humans making change if we are to have any hope of species survival?
telling them they are in a cult — no result.
Protesting about the cult leader — strengthens the choir but the church is empty
We must meet America with our eyes open and address it where it is, not where we want it to be and not with talk talk talk no action.
The cult can change and you can help turn the country around — but it must be through creating experiences in the physical world. That breaks through belief.
