Appeasement Of Tyrants Never Works. Pretending That You Have A Backbone Then Caving Is Worse. [1]

There are many theories as to the psychological makeup of Tyrants. I’ll take a note from Hannah Arendt:

The embodiment of the banality of evil.

Voltaire, of course, is correct.

Tyrants have always some slight shade of virtue; they support the laws before destroying them.

Agent Orange is the definition of banality: boring, predictable, and lacking any hint of originality.

Once you understand two things:

1] Everything is about him.

2] Everything is a zero-sum game.

Now, considering this, when you pretend to stand up to him, then fold like a pack of cards.

You just made his dream come true. He won.

It matters not one jot who loses; he won.

That is all that matters to him.

Reasons and thoughtfulness count for naught.

He won.

You cannot satisfy this need, ever.

Worrying about the negative effect on others?

You are merely weak.

Be prepared for more of the same.

And worse.
