Thursday 3/13 edition of Dems, Dems and more Dems... [1]

['This Content Is Not Subject To Review Daily Kos Staff Prior To Publication.']

Date: 2025-03-13

My goal with these posts is to highlight some of what Democrats around the country are doing, and saying about the actions of this awful administration. Please feel free to share correspondence or other social media posts that you’ve seen from Democrats.

Also, I encourage you to check out Lpeacocks Thursday posts about the Congressional Black Congress and what they’ve been doing and saying in the past week. Those diaries go into more detail than mine, and are worth the time to read, and comment.

x The Agriculture Secretary just called this now-canceled USDA program that helped feed kids AND support our farmers "non-essential." You read that right - the Trump administration thinks both our children and our farmers are "non-essential."

x It’s obvious that Trump and Musk – who likely never set foot in a public school and don’t care about civil rights - are waging war on public education. What a devastating turn for the United States of America. — Suzanne Bonamici (@repbonamici.bsky.social) March 11, 2025 at 7:21 PM

x Joined my colleague and friend, @repmarktakano.bsky.social, to discuss the Administration’s recent impacts on veterans on the #WTFShow. Watch our update from Washington below ⬇️

x This will force more dedicated civil servants with invaluable institutional knowledge out of the federal government. And they will be replaced with political appointees who answer only to Trump and Musk. These public servants, and the students they serve, deserved better.

x This Republican funding bill is a betrayal of every single American. pic.twitter.com/kaLVgGbzhu — Katherine Clark (@WhipKClark) March 11, 2025

x BREAKING: Democratic Congressman Tom Suozzi just ripped to shreds the Republican written budget for being done without the input of Democrats. We need more leaders with this energy.pic.twitter.com/Gyq9Fy8EJt — Democratic Wins Media (@DemocraticWins) March 12, 2025

x Great news! Our resolution to allow new parents to vote remotely is one step closer to a vote on the House floor.

No Member of Congress should have to choose between caring for their newborn and representing their constituents.

I’m so grateful for my co-leads @RepLuna,… pic.twitter.com/mfp75EKa95 — U.S. Rep. Brittany Pettersen (@RepPettersen) March 11, 2025

x This is shameful. Arbitrarily cutting half of the Department of Education’s staff will have far reaching consequences.

Trump is turning his back on our students, parents, and teachers. Education should level the playing field and build an infrastructure of opportunity for all… — Joaquin Castro (@JoaquinCastrotx) March 12, 2025

x Education is one of the most powerful tools for building a more prosperous and secure future. President Trump’s decision to gut the Education Department is irresponsible, dangerous, and wrong. pic.twitter.com/N51KZXRbnH — Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi (@CongressmanRaja) March 12, 2025

x Today I spoke on the U.S. House floor to honor the life and legacy of Dr. Hazel N. Dukes, an icon of Harlem and civil rights champion for all.

May her impact continue to serve as an inspiration to each of us. pic.twitter.com/r7zzUW9cd8 — Adriano Espaillat (@RepEspaillat) March 11, 2025

x Trump and Elon’s DOGE boys are crippling our public lands agencies. They promised us government efficiency but what we’re actually getting is government dysfunction. pic.twitter.com/509xTnAPH4 — Martin Heinrich (@SenatorHeinrich) March 12, 2025

x Last night, Donald Trump fired workers who made sure federal resources got to the students in Nevada that needed them most.

I recently spoke with Principal Jason Shipman from a school in Sparks about what that could mean for our kids: pic.twitter.com/hCGFtZ3ePZ — Senator Cortez Masto (@SenCortezMasto) March 12, 2025

x Isabella gave her all to serve her country—until she was illegally, unjustly fired.

Please listen to her story. I am fighting for Isabella and for federal workers across the country—these firings cannot stand. pic.twitter.com/eum7wVK5bM — Senator Jeff Merkley (@SenJeffMerkley) March 12, 2025

This last one is close to my heart. Native fishing rights were finally restored in 1974, with a landmark ruling by Judge Boldt. I grew up near Mr. Frank’s tribe, as well as several others. That decision was a huge victory and big, big news.

Find out more about it, here, from an excellent story by a northwest PBS newsroom.

“While the lawsuit dealt with fishing rights, the Boldt Decision was more far-reaching in that it also affirmed the notion of tribal sovereignty.”
