Rules of the Road [1]

['This Content Is Not Subject To Review Daily Kos Staff Prior To Publication.']

Date: 2025-03-13

Given our clear goals, these are our only ideological prohibitions: Advocacy for third parties or third-party candidates

Advocacy for voting against Democrats or not voting at all

Misleading, deceptive, or malicious attacks against Democratic officials or candidates

Given the capitulation tonight, I’m not sure these rules should apply any more.

Why shouldn’t we advocate for third party candidates? If a progressive runs as an independent against Chuck Schumer or any of the other shitbags that voted for this tonight, why shouldn’t we?

If AOC, Chris Murphy, or any of the other few remaining better Democrats decide to resign from the party in disgust, and run as independents next time around, do you really want us to vote for the ConservaDem that the party puts up instead?

Advocacy for not voting or voting against Democrats? Let me turn this around and ask why anyone would vote for them? Chuck Schumer prostitutes himself to Wall Street and lobbyists and I’m supposed to be happy to vote for him? Canvas for him? Do anything for him?

Malicious attacks against Democrats? Whew — reading most of the diaries tonight, we’d have to ban half the site’s users.

More and Better Democrats — but the problem is, the Democratic party is no longer a home for those who would be better Democrats, and more of the same is what got us here in the first place.

I’m just beyond disgusted. Here in Virgina, I’m supposed to vote for Abigail Spanberger this fall for governor. Go to her website — nothing about the issues facing the state, in fact, nothing about issues at all. Nothing about the crypto farms running up my electric bill, nothing about going after zoning laws that have created the housing crisis, nothing to balance funding for public schools, nothing to go after the monopolistic health care companies like Sentara, nothing to end the Dillon rule — in short nothing to upset her millionaire friends and nothing to help the poorer communities in the state. Her Conservadem remarks in 2020 and 2021 and criticizing Biden, saying he wasn’t elected to be FDR — I’m supposed to be fired up to vote for this?

Just tired of working for people who don’t work for me.
