Just in case you thought our erstwhile SOS Marco Rubio might be a bit more in touch with reality than his master in the White House or some of his fellow cabinet members, consider his current trip to Quebec for the latest G7 meeting of foreign ministers, as reported by the Irish Star:

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio is set to face a potentially hostile reception from his counterparts at the G7 Foreign Ministers meeting this week, and that may be evident by the tiny red carpet rolled out in his honor. Rubio arrived at the G7 Summit in the picturesque Quebec town of La Malbaie on the St. Lawrence River, and the Canadians - now in a trade war with the U.S. thanks to Trump - rolled out a red carpet they thought would be perfect for one of Trump's team members. The tiny carpet can be seen in photos greeting him as he descends the stairs of the airplane. A tweet featuring the photo surfaced, with a user captioning it: "I can't sleep either. I'm trying to find things to laugh at like this tiny red carpet they put out for Rubio when he arrived for the G7."

The best part is the “red carpet” doesn’t even fully cover the puddle of water he has to walk through!

… Rubio is expected to face a barrage of complaints about Trump's decisions from once-friendly nations within the G7, particularly host Canada. Trump has arguably been most antagonistic towards Canada, with persistent talk of it becoming the 51st U.S. state, additional tariffs, and repeated insults against its leadership. Canadian Foreign Minister Mélanie Joly, who will meet each participant individually as the official host, stated that "in every single meeting, I will raise the issue of tariffs to coordinate a response with the Europeans and to put pressure on the Americans. "The only constant in this unjustifiable trade war seems to be President Trump's talk of annexing our country through economic coercion," Joly remarked on Wednesday. "Yesterday, he called our border a fictional line and repeated his disrespectful 51st state rhetoric." Senator Rubio sought to downplay Trump's "51st state" remarks from Wednesday, suggesting that the president was simply sharing what he believed to be a beneficial notion. … When questioned about anticipating a frosty welcome from his international counterparts, Rubio dismissed the idea: "I don't know, should I be? I mean, they've invited us to come. We intend to go. The alternative is to not go. I think that would actually make things worse, not better."

Hopefully Rubio will have a chance to hear this brilliant updating of Gloria Gaynor’s 1978 disco classic, I Will Survive:
