It’s been a rough 2025 for me so far. Not only are we dealing on a daily basis with the trauma of of the social, economic and political landscape, but I have also had numerous health issues: glaucoma and cataract surgery, gall bladder removal, and diagnosed uncomplicated diverticulitis. I spent the Saturday before last in the ER just a little more than a week since my surgery. And now I’m dealing with blurred vision with two eye docs not properly diagnosing. I have an appointment with the glaucoma physician again tomorrow and have a colonoscopy scheduled in May. Yikes!

Add to that the fact that my 13-year-old dog is experiencing separation anxiety and profound hearing loss and it’s safe to say, things haven’t been going well for me. The past few weeks I haven’t been in much of a mood to take to the streets and protest. But I was buoyed when I saw that the #TeslaTakedown rallies are growing in number and in size!

I was back in Corte Madera Saturday, crossing the overpass towards the mall when I saw a contingent of #TeslaTakedown protestors at the midpoint, tucked behind a huge banner draping over the bridge and an oversized American flag. Numerous cars passing by below honked every few seconds.

Several hundred people showed up for the 11am protest, according to a friend who participated, marching to nearby Larkspur before taking up position on the overpass. Quite an increase in size in since I attended the first event at the Tesla dealership a few weeks ago when there was only about 15 of us.

Not only are people protesting, but The SF Chronicle reports they are also turning in their Teslas in growing numbers.

Critics of Musk have projected their frustrations onto his car company, rendering the Tesla into a culture war avatar. In the past, these electric vehicles were known for luxury design, blistering horsepower and environmental sustainability. But, today, many people describe them as rolling MAGA hats. A growing number of motorists who purchased these cars are rushing to offload them, and dealerships are scrambling to keep pace.. Bay Area Tesla owners are breaking up with Elon Musk and trading in their cars

The Guardian reports on Tuesday, following Tesla’s poor performance in the market on Monday:

Donald Trump said he intends to buy a “brand new Tesla” and blamed “Radical Left Lunatics” for “illegally” boycotting Elon Musk’s electric vehicle company a day after Tesla suffered its worst share price fall in nearly five years. On Tuesday, several Tesla vehicles were parked in the driveway of the White House for Trump to pick which vehicle to buy, accompanied by Musk and his young son. In August 2024, a podcaster gifted Trump a Cybertruck. “Elon Musk is ‘putting it on the line’ in order to help our Nation, and he is doing a FANTASTIC JOB! But the Radical Left Lunatics, as they often do, are trying to illegally and collusively boycott Tesla, one of the World’s great automakers, and Elon’s ‘baby,’ in order to attack and do harm to Elon, and everything he stands for,” Trump posted on Truth Social on Tuesday morning.
