Russian stuff blowing up: Russia has yet to reply to ceasefire proposal [1]

Putin hasn’t weighed in on the ceasefire proposal yet, but there doesn’t seem to be a lot of enthusiasm in Russia for the plan.
My own impression is that Russia will wait a few days and then make a counter-proposal for a ceasefire with all kinds of poison pills and ridiculous demands. Then it will be interesting to see how the “geniuses” at the WH respond.
x Moscow has remained tight-lipped over the news that Ukraine has accepted a full 30-day ceasefire proposal during negotiations with the U.S. Russia's pro-war military bloggers, however, are more forthcoming in appraising the ceasefire proposal as disastrous for Russia.

x Moscow offers Washington a ceasefire in Ukraine under Russian terms, highlighting Russia's firm stance. Source: Агентство. Ukraine's readiness for a US-brokered ceasefire contrasts sharply with Russia's uncompromising stance, raising concerns about future negotiations. x ⚡️Russia will not agree to a 30-day ceasefire because it will just enable Ukraine to regroup and rearm - Russian MP Viktor Sobolev. He added that a temporary ceasefire is unacceptable and only plays into Ukraine's hands.

Russia adheres to agreements the way Trump adheres to his marriage vows.
x A 30-day ceasefire could provide both sides with opportunities for rotations and training, and would allow Ukraine, as the defender, to strengthen its defenses and facilitate the transition to a corps-level structure. However, russia has a history of violating ceasefires — Joni Askola (@joniaskola.bsky.social) March 11, 2025 at 6:01 PM
Poor Kellogg. He probably didn’t genuflect enough.
How many more scaramuccis will he last?
x 🇺🇸❗️Kellogg has been sidelined from the talks as others, including Rubio, Waltz and Witkoff, take center stage in negotiations, - Politico "In the eyes of NATO's Ukraine supporters, Kellogg is seen as a staunch hawk on Russia who understands the difficulties and pitfalls of negotiating with Putin."
[image or embed] — The Ukrainian Review (@theukrainianreview.bsky.social) March 12, 2025 at 2:32 AM
x What happened to Kellogg? Possibly a bit too positive on Ukraine when he visited Kyiv and the front line. Kellogg has likely been removed from negotiations on Russia’s war against Ukraine. www.politico.com/newsletters/...

Meanwhile, from his prison cell, Girkin says Russia’s success in Kursk doesn’t mean much in the big strategic picture.
There was a post that said Russians are claiming Girkin committed suicide in jail. But that isn’t possible because Russian jails only have one floor. 😅
x Girkin-Strelkov on the front line situation—same old story. Russia has achieved nothing beyond minor tactical gains. The Ukrainian forces will withdraw from Sudzha without a fight, hardly a victory for Russia. Once again, Russia is waging war half-heartedly. Classic.

The enemy continues its strategic defensive operation (and, unfortunately, continues it quite successfully overall). During the winter campaign, our troops once again managed to achieve only tactical successes and failed to break through the front or defeat opposing Ukrainian Armed Forces units anywhere. The enemy's front has remained generally stable, and battles for the most tactically important positions have been ongoing since autumn (Dzerzhynsk [Toretsk], Chasiv Yar, the outskirts of Pokrovsk, the Kupiansk area, Vovchansk,
etc.). It is likely that our troops will soon be able to capture Sudzha, as the Ukrainian Armed Forces are withdrawing their units from the encirclement. Whether prolonged urban battles can be avoided remains unclear, but it is quite possible that Sudzha will be abandoned by the enemy without a fight. In any case, this tactical success (which propaganda will undoubtedly present as a "great victory") will not have a significant impact on the overall strategic situation and will not create a turning point. After the muddy season, we face another "battle for the initiative." It is highly likely that our side will win it, but we currently lack -- and will continue to lack in the coming months -- the strength to turn tactical successes into strategic ones. Fighting "half-heartedly" against a significantly weaker enemy that is waging total war is extremely difficult (and we are "not doing very well" at it).
Girkin has been rumored to be dead more times than Paul McCartney.
x Igor Strelkov (aka Girkin), the guy who did as much as anyone to start the war in 2014, is said to have committed suicide in prison. This is unconfirmed and he has been reported to have died before.
Strelkov publicly admitted Russia's planned invasion of Donbas in 2014, disproving Putin's lies.
[image or embed] — Tim White (@twmcltd.bsky.social) March 12, 2025 at 10:05 AM
x UFSCIN denies reports of Igor Girkin's death amid speculation and political tension, as reported by Vedomosti. Concerns rise as uncertainty looms over Strelkov's fate, potentially influencing Kremlin's strategies amid ongoing war debates. This Russian on the eastern front describes their nightmare existence.
x 1/ The acute exhaustion and demoralisation of the Russians fighting in eastern Ukraine comes across in a vivid description of conditions on the ground, as told by the Telegram blog of a Russian soldier titled, revealingly, 'Groundhog Day'. ⬇️

3 March 2025 "I have not been able to concentrate, sit down and write a note lately. Another hit cuts off the power, so I sit down to try to convey all the feelings of the last few days. 3/ "It is difficult to say that this is even real. The whole essence of what is happening to us, in general and to me in particular, is expressed easily and simply - a nightmare. No, there is no fear as such. 4/ "It’s just that day and night you sit underground and any attempt to stick your head out and run ten meters is a sophisticated suicide attempt. The sky resembles an international tourist airport – not a single second of clear space. 5/ "Constant shelling by mortars, artillery and tanks. Regular drops and scattering of cluster munitions, sowing all the space around. Go to the toilet? A five-liter bottle, that's it. Warm up the dugout? No higher than 15 degrees, otherwise we start to "glow" [in infrared]. 6/ "We are tired. Very tired – to the point of nervous tics, insomnia and swearing. We are impatiently waiting for them to say that's it, the war is over, we can go out. To be completely frank – we just want to finish all this and go home. 7/ "We want to go to a place where we can sleep peacefully, eat and go to the toilet – and where a piece of iron stuffed with explosives won't fly at you and tear you in half.
Or maybe they ran just out of thieves and cutthroats.
x 1/ In two possible indications that the Russians expect fighting in Ukraine to end soon, the Russian army has reportedly abruptly stopped recruiting convicts, and officers are said to be flocking to safe areas of Donetsk and Luhansk so that they can gain war veteran benefits. ⬇️
[image or embed] — ChrisO_wiki (@chriso-wiki.bsky.social) March 12, 2025 at 12:32 PM
2/ According to the VChK-OGPU Telegram channel, "sources report that in a number of penal colonies and pretrial detention centers the recruitment of prisoners for the war was suspended. It is possible that this was done everywhere." 3/ "In some regions even those convicts who had been approved for sending to the so-called Special Military Operation zone by all authorities were "turned back". …. 5/ Meanwhile, the 'Battle_🅉 _Sailor' Telegram channel complains:"The closer the deal on [Ukraine] is, the more different types of management and personnel officers go to safe [areas of] Donetsk and Luhansk for the status of veteran of the Special Military Operation.
x Russia: Having run out of prison inmates, the fascists now send those in pre-trial detentions straight to the frontline in Ukraine.
These are people accused of crimes who were awaiting their trials in court.

Multiply this times many thousands of similar experiences across Ukraine.
x Kateryna from Kryvyi Rih was with her son in the hallway of their apartment during a Russian double missile attack, with a pause of 5-10 minutes between explosions. Her 16-year-old son began to have panic attacks afterward. "He can't live without sedatives now,"Kateryna said.

Teenaged traitors. Such a shame.
x The explosions in Ivano-Frankivsk that led to multiple deaths and injuries were carried out by 2 Ukrainian kids aged 15 and 17. They were recruited by Russians. Unknown to them, it also involved a remote detonator. The 17 year old died on the spot and the 15 year old is severely injured.

It’s hard to tell exactly what’s going on, but it appears the end is near for Ukraine’s occupation of Kursk.
x ⚡️Russia reportedly enters Ukraine-held Sudzha in Kursk Oblast; Kyiv hasn't confirmed. According to DeepState, Russian forces have entered the eastern part of Sudzha and are entrenching their positions.
[image or embed] — The Kyiv Independent (@kyivindependent.com) March 12, 2025 at 4:24 AM
x 🔼🇺🇦 Fighting continues on the outskirts of Sudzha, writes DeepState. The situation remains difficult. The Defense Forces are doing everything possible to stop the enemy's advance. 🫡 Zelensky said that Ukrainian troops continue to carry out tasks in the Kursk region.

x 🚀💥 Ukrainian soldiers writes that AFU are currently massively shelling Russian positions in Sudzha. — MAKS 24 👀🇺🇦 (@maks23.bsky.social) March 12, 2025 at 3:56 AM
Sudzha was intact when Ukrainian troops rolled into town last summer. Russia has since turned it into Avdiivka or Bakhmut.
I have no idea if this is true. But do I think Trump is capable of this? Absolutely.
x Growing number of experts say that Trump is providing Russia with intelligence against Ukraine. Russian forces in Kursk miraculously had extremely precise coordinates for Ukrainian troop locations, logistics and ammo depots in Kursk after Trump cut off aid. A day before Russia was on the back foot.

All those elaborate anti-drone boxes the Russians built around their armor didn’t save them.
x On the Toretsk front, the 28th Brigade took out four “Blyatbarn-tanks” with a group of assault forces under its metal sheets. The column was caught in a fire trap, after which Ukrainian artillery and UAV pilots began eliminating the column.

I just have no sympathy for the Swiss on this.
x 🇨🇭 Swiss arms exports keep falling due to the ban on re-exporting weapons to Ukraine—down 27% in 2023, another 5% in 2024. Germany and others are dropping Swiss suppliers. The industry warns of a crisis.

x So Iran’s President had just bashed Trump for his treatment of Ukraine’s President and actually supported us?
The guy whose drones literally kill Ukrainians, actually attacked Trump on our behalf? I understand Iran just likes to bash US for any reason and no reason at all but man this feels weird — Margo Gontar (@margogontar.bsky.social) March 11, 2025 at 5:38 PM
