Some things can scar you for life. For me it was overhearing my mother tell someone, "Michael naturally gets good grades. If Michele wants good grades she really has to study. "
In high school I was in English honors. I was a part of a Shakespeare group that met on Saturdays with a teacher where we would read and discuss Shakespeare. I studied because I love learning.
The fact that the current administration wants to abolish the Department of Education is an abomination. We should be expanding it.
My interests are varied. As an artist I study artworks. One of my favorite artists is Claude Monet. I have feeds showcasing his works on my Facebook.
I have always explored outer space. I read books by Dr. Neil deGrasse Tyson, Dr. Michio Kaku, Dr. Brian Greene, Dr. Brian Cox and others. Star Talk is in heavy rotation in my videos.
I am a cook and explore cuisines from around the world. I explore the beliefs and cultures of other people.
I explore history. The past has a real impact on our present. We only need to study the past to realize we are looking at the rise of fascism.
I don't shock easily but an algabra teacher asked me to stay after class. I needed to take his class in order to take an astronomy class. He asked me point blank why I didn't major in math because I have a real aptitude for it.
For me learning is an every day event. I make it a habit of learning at least one new thing every day. I'll be 77 this month and for me learning is just as important now as when I was in school.
The supreme irony is that when I took the SAT tests I was in the top 1% in everything except math and that was 67%. I was the first child in my family to graduate from college and did it with a B+ average. Mom's favorite Michael flunked out in his first attempt at college.
A couple of years ago I took a comprehensive test to measure IQs. I scored at 180. Not only was I not dumb but I have a genius IQ.
