Senate Democrats, you know all of that “dry powder” that you’ve been socking away for a quarter century? Know how you’ve preserved the (cursed) filibuster for when it is supposed to really matter?
Now is time to use it. This is it.
There is no later, There is no playing it safe; if you try to do that (like you usually do) the country will fall. Your other options are foreclosed. There is no avoiding confrontation.
There is only to filibuster the spending resolution and fight through the maelstrom of a government shutdown to be the public’s champion and end the Trump regime’s tyranny, or there is to listlessly allow the spending resolution to pass and thus surrender to Republican fascism (and, with runaway global warming, certain worldwide environmental doom) in full view of the American public and the world.
This is when you say ‘Nuts.”
Last night I wrote more about the implications if Democrats don’t filibuster and thus show that they find Republican fascism acceptable and also about how public pressure is working (see how House Democrats voted as a bloc against the spending resolution):
So call your senators today, demonstrate outside their offices, organize… but definitely call.
