A deluded Peter Navarro calls Trump's tariff surrender to Canada a "negotiation" [1]

On Tuesday, CNN's Jake Tapper reported on Trump's tariff gyrations:
"Another day of what you might call tariff whiplash. Starting with the president this morning saying he's going to add a 25% tariff on steel and aluminum coming into the US from Canada, which led to the Ontario premier continuing to threaten to cut off electricity supplies from Canada to Americans getting that electricity in New York, Minnesota, and Michigan."
Tapper reported that the tariff back-and-forth continued until two ex-best friends agreed to meet face-to-face.
"This is a tit for tat that went on all day. It ended with the US and Canada agreeing to meet Thursday to renegotiate the trade agreement. But those US steel and aluminum tariffs on Canada are still set to go into effect at midnight tonight."
Tapper closed with a teaser for his show:
"We're going to talk to the Trump administration, senior trade and manufacturing adviser Peter Navarro in the show today. All of this affecting the markets, the Dow, S&P 500 and Nasdaq closing down, marking the second bad day for the markets this week after yesterday's disastrous plunge."
Meanwhile, after Trump said he would back down on his supplemental steel and aluminum tariffs Doug Ford, Ontario's Premier, dropped his plan for a surcharge on energy exports to the US. So, we are back to the status quo before Trump started his on-again, off-again tariff insanity. The only difference is that the stock market has now cratered in the face of Trump's vacillating incompetence.
Not that Presidential advisor, the convicted criminal Peter Navarro, saw it that way. This waspish misogynist categorized Trump's latest market-busting incompetence as a 'negotiation.'
Reuters reported that Navarro told reporters that,
"an increased tariff of 50% on Canadian steel and aluminum will not take effect on Wednesday, after Trump had earlier ordered the 25% tariff be doubled."
A Sky News reporter pointed out that Trump's ignorance of how the financial world works had led to disastrous equity results. Navarro was having none of it. He celebrated Trump's long-debunked claim that he knows how to negotiate. The reporter then reasonably pointed out that Trump has the constancy of a moth high on meth.
Navarro: "Looks like the president is negotiating strategically. So stop with the rhetoric. Okay? Just stop that crap." Reporter: "But he does seem to be changing his mind all the time."
The permanently peevish Peter snapped. The conversation continued with Navarro ascertaining the reporter's provenance. The reporter maintaining that Trump was playing the role of Hamlet in the White House. And Navarro clinging to the MAGA fairy tale that Trump knows what he is doing.
Navarro: "Stop that crap! Sir, where are you from?" Reporter: "From Sky News UK. (they talk over each other) But why is that? Why is that? It's a fact that he's changing his mind every single day," Navarro: "It's a negotiation my friend," Reporter: "Right. So he doesn't mean it? It's all part of a negotiation. And it's causing havoc to the stock markets."
Trump has no idea what he does and doesn't mean. In addition, when he gets pushback on something he does mean, he'll often laugh it off as "I was just kidding." Lastly, I doubt he meant the stock markets to crash. Bearing that in mind, anyone who thought TRump’s trade policy would be greeted with wine and roses is probably in a cult. And in Navarro's case, is also a fecking eejit.
