When I was a kid I wanted to be a teacher. Alas, due to my low economic and undocumented status (plus my girlfriend was pregnant and I had to start working to provide for my family) I couldn't go to College and become an educator. I spent most of my adult life, working two or three jobs trying to make a living.

Fast forward to now, I have become a storyteller, something I never even dreamed of, since I used to stutter, was undocumented, and didn't know English when I came to this country from Guatemala at age 15.

Harry S Truman College Dominican University Being a storyteller means that I get invited to schools, colleges and universities all over the country to share my stories and even conduct storytelling workshops. This month am working with students atand, most of them immigrants like me, and I get to provide them with the representation I lacked when I was going to school.

In a miraculous sort of way, I have become an educator, just last week I spent the day at a High School presenting my immigration stories.

My childhood dream came true.

AS an extra bonus my wife is an amazing educator and social warrior.
