DK Quilt Guild: Keep doing fabric art! [1]

I’m soooo glad it clicked in that I had this diary today! I spaced it, as Sundays seem to be my spacey days… but something woke me in time! :-) This is a bit of a random diary, but welcome, and feel free to update us on what you’ve been doing, or whatever else is going on…
I’m not being very organized about my 100-Day Project project — moving from playing with paper collage, to fabric books, to just random playing… but at least I’ve done art every day except one (and I was out of town yesterday). And that’s really the point of the project. This is progress I’ve made on a fabric book about my family. Finally making decisions solid, instead of just placing things and taking photos.
It’s an accordion fold, gel printed on heavy duck cloth, and now with a poem inkjet printed onto fabric, stitched down, and starting to add things like buttons. The transparencies are also inkjet printed and I’m trying to anchor them down with stitched buttons (this isn’t mean to be handled a lot).

This photo has an additional transparency — I discovered some of them need plain fabric behind them.
The next step will be to sew the two strips together, stitch vertically through the “page seams” and figure out how to close it. Given that this is an experiment and supposedly a text run for the big quilt, I don’t want to spend forever on it. Just learning a few techniques.
There are lots of great examples of fabric books online — just search with that term.
