Grocery prices.

Coming out of Covid with our supply chains in shambles, the US (and world) experienced an inflationary spiral that Biden and the Fed brought under control, but not in time for the elections. Trump won in part because he convinced MAGA that he would bring grocery prices down, and you can bet MAGA is watching this one. And what are they seeing since the election? The issue of grocery prices is such a viral issue, it is now internet memes. Late night monologues are filled with references to the price of eggs. People are buying backyard chicken coops at record rates. Companies have formed to “rent a chicken” to consumers (whatever that means).

This is the issue that could bury Trump. In the world of the “low information voter” (who really doesn’t exist..they are hyper-information voters to be covered in another diary), this is the single issue that can cut through the massive onslaught of information and “news” drilled into the populace at every moment of their lives. It is the political issue to finally get to a significant portion of MAGA and make a difference. It is something that nearly every household in American knows very well. It is something they will negatively experience sometimes several times a day, everyday. It is something that comes directly out of their pocketbooks, and only the most deluded Trumper could ignore.

Why are grocery prices the Achilles Heel of Donald Trump? Since 1968, grocery prices have never gone down!

Granted, eggs are experiencing a shortage due to the avian flu and prices will stabilize after the crisis is abated. As we all know, eggs are just a fraction of a family’s grocery bill. The price of eggs today is the bellwether we need to ring to focus on the issue of the family grocery bill that never goes down.

Democratic leaders need to be meeting with political consultants, new media experts and organizing within themselves a cohesive message to be hammered at MAGA. We have time. By this summer, MAGA is going to realize they got lied to and duped by Trump concerning bringing grocery prices down. The difference about this con by Trump is that MAGA will see and feel this every time they go to the grocery store. They will feel the hurt every time they sit down to eat at the kitchen table. They will finally know firsthand the pain and consequences of voting for the con man.

And if we can be united in this message, 2028 will be the greatest blue tsunami in modern American history.

DNC, Schumer, Jeffries et al...DO NOT BLOW THIS ONE. It’s the “game winning layup”.
