The U.S. withdraws from future NATO exercises in Europe.
x The United States has informed its NATO allies of its decision to cease participation in the planning of future military exercises in Europe. It is expected to affect exercises that are still in the planning stages or in the conceptual phase. US will shift focus to the Indo-Pacific region. — Olga Nesterova (@onestpress.bsky.social) March 8, 2025 at 8:13 AM
There are reports today that Ukraine is not withdrawing from Kursk and that they intend to stabilize the situation southeast of Sudzha where Russians have advanced.
Reason for Staying in Kursk: Russia has massed a large number of troops, equipment and North Korean cannon fodder there. If Ukraine withdrew, these troops could reinforce Russian positions in places like Toretsk or Chasiv Yar.
Reason to Get the Hell Out: It is getting increasingly hard to hold back Russian advances there and elite Ukrainian units might get cut off.
x The Armed Forces of Ukraine are not withdrawing from the Kursk region, there is no encirclement of the troops, — RBC Ukraine citing sources The publication writes that the Ukrainian troops are taking measures to stabilize the situation and are planning counteraction.

The war has already seen several Highways of Death where entire armored columns get chewed up. This was the Pipeline of Death.
x Ukrainian paratroopers wiped out up to 80% of Russian troops trying to infiltrate via a gas pipeline in Kursk region – 🇺🇦 officer Hai said. Ukrainians knew the plan in advance and set up an ambush. At the right moment, the tunnel exit was sealed—trapping the invaders. No escape. Total destruction.

A skilfully organized ambush made it possible to wait for the enemy to leave the tunnel and his gathering near the exit. The decisive moment - and the exit from the pipe was blocked, making it impossible for the enemy group to evacuate. Then the destruction.
About 80% were liquidated. wasps the enemy Objective control and radio interception confirm the panic among the enemy personnel: the invaders complain that they were thrown to certain death.
x 🔼❗️~100 Russian soldiers infiltrated Ukrainian positions near Sudzha, Kursk region, using underground gas pipeline tunnels. ✊💀 Galician paratroopers set an ambush. Trapped inside, the group was systematically eliminated. ~80 soldiers neutralized.

Not providing intelligence to Ukraine is bad enough. This, if true, would be rather damning.
x A Suspicious Pattern Alarming the Ukrainian Military
A Ukrainian military source believes that Russia’s long-range strikes are aimed using satellite imagery provided by U.S. companies. www.theatlantic.com/internationa...

The intelligence sharing went both ways.
x Ukraine has supplied the U.S. with extensive intelligence and vast amounts of data on Russian technology, captured equipment, battlefield operational guides, weapon performance, and countermeasures against US provided systems. A shame no one seems to remembers or appreciates it — Tatarigami (@tatarigami.bsky.social) March 7, 2025 at 2:21 PM
Listening to Russians complain that the mean old Ukrainians are fucking them up never gets old.
x A Russian complains that fighting near Nova Kakhovka, on the Kherson front, is extremely difficult. He says they’re being attacked with everything imaginable—cluster munitions, mortars, drones—claiming it’s the first time he’s ever faced such hell in his life.

The meat grinder can be quite lucrative.
x 1/ Cash bonuses are incentivising Russian commanders to compete with each other to mount bloody assaults for symbolic or propaganda benefit, rather than doing slower but more useful work such as cutting off logistics, according to Russian warbloggers. ⬇️
[image or embed] — ChrisO_wiki (@chriso-wiki.bsky.social) March 7, 2025 at 2:55 AM
The bloggers refer to the Russian Army as the Laotian Army to evade censors.
5/ "[Let's speak] about the evil joke of capitalism in the Laotian army, which measures everything in money and stimulates patriotism with hard cash. There is a settlement. There is a height. The commander has three battalions. 6/ "You can storm the settlement, or you can storm that height above the settlement. If you storm the settlement with three battalions, then at the cost of two battalions, you can carry out the "flag-push" operation, after which you will receive a reward and a bonus. 7/ Or you can storm the height, spending half of one battalion, cut off the logistics of the settlement defended by the enemy, but... the "neighbour" will take the settlement, do a flag-push and receive a reward, a bonus and all that good stuff. 8/ "Guess how many commanders of the Laotian army will choose the path of storming an unnamed height?" 9/ "As Russian warbloggers have previously noted, this has led to the phenomenon of Russian forces taking Ukrainian settlements "on credit", in other words falsely claiming they have been captured before it actually happens.
Maxar says they did this at the request of you know who and his merry band of Russian assets.
x If this is confirmed then it would be another US company, whose services cannot be trusted anymore. Just like with tariffs, this isn't well thought through and will only hurt US interests, their companies and US jobs.

Russia once again targeted Odesa.
Russia used an Iskander missile to destroy a meat processing plant in Kharkiv. Perhaps they felt threatened by pork chops.
x Four russian Shahed drones attacked a meat processing plant in Bohodukhiv, Kharkiv Oblast—russia will call it a NATO base—killing three civilians and injuring seven others.

Russia also bombed Dobropilliya, a town north of Pokrovsk. At least 12 are dead.
x 12 Ukrainian civilians were killed last night when Russia launched 2 ballistic missiles with cluster munitions against a residential area in Dobropilliya, 25 km from Pokrovsk After rescue-services arrived on the scene, the Russians launched another “double-tap” attack.

At Chasiv Yar, Ukraine’s drones have forced Russia to hunker down.
x Russians are bogged down and suffering serious losses in Chasiv Yar due to Ukraine’s significant drone advantage—essentially, they can't even lift their heads. The use of armoured vehicles is extremely limited. EW is ineffective due to the rapid adaptation of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
[image or embed] — WarTranslated (Dmitri) (@wartranslated.bsky.social) March 7, 2025 at 2:32 PM
The main reason for the lack of success remains the enemy's air dominance. Their reconnaissance drones are in the sky 24/7, and any movement on our part is immediately met with a massive wave of FPV drones. These drones reach much farther and strike much more frequently than we can afford. As a result, infantry simply doesn't reach the objectives. In the "best" case, it's a "300" (wounded) with subsequent evacuation and all the associated risks. In the worst case... we just lose people without achieving anything. The same applies to armoured vehicles —they essentially operate in a one-way manner now, serving only to quickly close the distance when any other approach would be even riskier. Beyond infantry, logistics is also suffering. Lately, the enemy has been actively hunting our UAV teams, which we are forced to move closer to the front line. To answer the inevitable question-why aren't we getting electronic warfare support? We are, but the enemy adapts extremely quickly, changing frequencies, while our EW systems, at best, cover less than half of the frequencies they use. The only solution is to purchase additional modules ourselves and install them to cover the entire range of frequencies the enemy operates on.
Kicking a kamikaze drone doesn’t work any better than hitting it with a stick.
Good choice for targets.
x Ukrainian sabotage targets locomotive in Russia's Voronezh used for military logistics Ukrainian military intelligence carried out two sabotage operations, disabling locomotives in Russia's Voronezh and, earlier, Moscow Oblast.

In the span of one week I have found myself agreeing with Marine Le Pen and John Bolton. The world must be coming to an end.
x 🇺🇸⚠️ Former Trump National Security Advisor Bolton called US sanctions threats against Russia meaningless, calling them a simple attempt to appear "balanced" in relation to Ukraine.

Yesterday Lithuania decided to withdraw from the treaty of cluster munitions. Today it’s Poland.
More countries are likely to go back to the days of land mines and cluster bombs because they are effective against the kind of massed infantry warfare that Russia practices.
x Several countries on the Eastern Flank of NATO are considering leaving the Ottawa Treaty, which bans anti-personnel mines. Yesterday, Finland and Poland both announced their intentions to leave the treaty in the coming weeks.

Looks like a significant number of Slovakians have had enough of Fico’s bullshit.
Ukraine charges another high-level spy with treason.
x ❗️SBU exposes FSB “mole” in State Space Agency: he was detained during a meeting at the Ministry of Strategic Industries FSB recruited this agent in 2024. The SBU also used this “mole” to disinform the enemy in order to pass on to the Russians information that was beneficial to Ukraine through him.

Russians complain that their once clean river is more like a smelly oil spill now.
“For many years, the treatment facilities of the city of Elektrougli have been illegally dumping sewage into the Malinovka and Vyunka rivers. Sewage gradually, going downstream along the rivers, pollutes the water bodies of the nearby districts.” Residents of the villages of Isakovo, Poltevo, Kopnino, the village of Zyuzino and the SNT Efir have been sounding the alarm for 20 years. The worn-out treatment facilities of the city of Elektrougli cannot cope with sewage discharges.” “Local citizens smell the constant smell of sewage and see how the flora and fauna of the rivers are dying. “It has never been like this before, - complains the chairwoman of the SNT "Efir" Elena Smirnova. - There is foam in the water, it smells like sewage.” At first they wrote to us that there were problems with active sludge in the purifiers, then they started writing to us about severe wear of the structures. We sent videos to the president on the hotline. It is of little use, the problem is not being solved.”
x “For 20 years, pensioners, disabled people, children and adults have not been able to use the water in the Malinovka and Vyunka rivers, although at one time, according to residents, they were crystal clear: you could swim in them and even wash dishes.” So…this all happened when Putin was in charge.
