"Policy by Pinball" Is No Way To Run A Country [1]

Growing up I enjoyed the occasional visit to the arcade, with the occasional game of pinball. I wasn’t an avid or particularly accomplished player, but I enjoyed it now and then. And it was always fun to get the ball between two bumpers where it would just bounce like mad between them. But it was always just a game.
But now we have a none-too-bright, economically ignorant, amoral pResident in the White House who evidently thinks that pinball is a great model for how to make policy and run the country.
Just picture how the bumpers are labelled: Tariffs on— tariffs off— tariffs back on— some tariffs off, but just for a month— more tariffs on. Name the person in charge of firing people— fire everybody on this list— wait, not everybody, get some back— say someone else actually in charge of firing people— but we’re going to fire a lot more anyway.
And to make it worse, while he’s doing all that, he’s got his buddies working to rig the game so that he can never lose. He wants to make it so that if anyone even questions how he’s playing the game, he’ll have them arrested for trespassing in his arcade. Even though the arcade is a co-op, and the rest of us have been playing here for our entire lives.
But for him, playing in the arcade, even keeping his game of pinball going, isn’t the goal. His goal is to loot the arcade, to steal every quarter he can that we put in, in as many ways as he can think of or be told about.
I almost wish I hadn’t had this idea come into my head. At first it was just a semi-amusing visual. But then it started to become all too depressing. Because, unfortunately, it’s all too accurate. We’ve got to fight. They’re playing for all the marbles. All of them.
It was all preventable, too. But that doesn’t matter now. I want these bastards out of our arcade.
