Did Musk/DOGE Really Lose the Ability to Fire People?? [1]

Ok so I was watching this on my favorite news show today (The Beat with Ari Melber), apparently the recent cabinet meeting didn’t go well for Musk. Here’s the writeup from DK, which doesn’t seem to mention one key thing that Ari mentioned: At the end of this contentious cabinet meeting, Trump apparently said that the agencies would be run by the agency heads (the cabinet members), including firing decisions, and that Elon Musk was just an advisor.

Which seems like a big demotion from Elon, who has been basically doing whatever he wants in any agency he wants. In addition:

Trump announced his intention to reign Musk in via a post to Truth Social. He said that the next phase of DOGE cuts would be made with a “scalpel” versus a “hatchet,” yet still claimed that Musk’s team was an “incredible success.”

So that seems to back up the idea that Musk’s “chainsaw” approach to cutting jobs is no longer favored by Trump. But I have trouble believing anything Trump says on 1 particular day, it could change tomorrow. Or Musk might just ignore him and keep doing whatever he wants.

How do you think this will turn out?
