Birds of a Fascist Feather Flock Together: The Far-Right Extremists in JD Vance’s Social Network [1]

A man is known by the company he keeps, as the old saying goes. Offline, JD Vance is known to keep company with openly anti-democratic thinkers such as Peter Thiel and Curtis Yarvin. Online, the company he keeps includes far-right reactionaries who flirt with Nazi themes.
The vice president’s unsavory online bedfellows are described in yesterday’s evening briefing on TPM, which details some of the right-wing extremists in Vance’s social networks, including self-professed eugenicists, racist conspiracy theorists, and neo-Nazi sympathizers who share fascist content, white supremacist memes, and quotes from Adolf Hitler.
Notably, many of these same social media accounts are followed not just by Vance but also by other officials in Trump’s administration, including Musk.
The Talking Points Memo write-up is well worth a look and includes links for further reading, including to an exposé in the Daily Dot of one particular Nazi-adjacent Twitter account followed by Vance and others in Trump’s orbit.
It’s a disturbing glimpse into the character and worldview of the man elected to the nation’s second-highest office. However, there’s nothing too surprising about the picture it paints. After all, Vance is a man who enthusiastically endorsed a far-right screed that calls progressives “unhuman” and invokes genocidal language to incite hate.
