Throughout the past few years, members of The Federation of Aboriginal Nations of the Americas (FANA) have attended international and domestic events.

From March 11 through March 12, 2025, the Community College of San Francisco will host an event honoring the return of the Sun as prophesied by Grandfather Tlatoani Kuautemok 500 years after his death.

Allow me to provide some background regarding the aforementioned Grandfather. Let me begin by saying that the name Kuautemok can also be spelled Cuauhtémoc. The Indigenous meaning of his name, when translated, may mean ‘Setting Sun’ or ‘Descending Eagle. He was the last Aztec emperor to fight the Spanish. After a few years of bitter battles between the Aztecs and the Spanish, he was captured and later killed during his captivity.

Let me return to the event. FANA’s Director of Indigenous Affairs and Cultural Outreach to the United Nations, and its Ambassador to Mexico, Central America, and South America, Mr. Guadalupe Casas Acosta, Mazatzin D. H. C,., is one of the world’s leading experts on the Aztek Calendar and will be doing a presentation.

There will be a dinner hosted on March 11, 2025. However, throughout the event, there will be artisans, vendors, and presentations on Kuautemok and as already mentioned, the Aztec Calendar.

The accompanying flyer to this article lists the time, location, and events.

If you can, please share this article so that those who know someone living in the San Francisco area can become aware of this event.

I apologize for the last-minute posting of this event, but I just received the request to compose a brief article on the flyer.
