****URGENT**** I need your help to pay my rent please! [1]

To All DKos,

I have been a member since 2014. While I have only written a handful of stories, I have commented and recc’ed many diaries over the years.

I was my sweet mommy’s full-time caregiver for ten years, up until her passing in March 2023. I lost everything when she passed. She was my raison d’être, my purpose, my everything and I hers. My brother, who did nothing to help me care for our mother for ten years, wanted his “inheritance” and therefore forced the sale of the home I shared with my mom for the better part of 20 years. As I refused to put my mother in a nursing home just to have a job, when I lost my job at American Express in the summer of 2016, we lived off her social security benefit and therefore I had no savings, no income history, and my credit tanked resulting in my not being able to secure a mortgage to buy out my brother and pay off the reverse mortgage on the house.

I have had two contract positions since her passing, the last one ended on May 17th, 2024. I have been applying for jobs ever since; I am a Technical Writer. My portion of the proceeds of the sale of the house was put into savings. I have now depleted my entire savings, and I have exhausted every possible means of assistance available to me.

I have and continue to battle MDD (Major Depressive Disorder) and am trying everything I know in my power to change my situation, but it has come to this. I was reticent to create a crowd funding site to ask for donations, but I have had to put my pride and ego aside because sometimes we all need some help.

I have recently signed up to be an UberEats Delivery driver, despite my anxiety about driving. Sometimes we just have to power through, even though it is my contention that people in South Florida try to kill you with their cars. But there are not enough hours in the day for me to come up with the amount necessary.

I created a crowd funding campaign and this is the link.

I don’t really have a social media presence so if you have one, please share my campaign with your network.

The amount I am trying to raise includes the amount per the 3-Day Pay or Quit notice, $2,330.54 plus the amount to clear my overdraft of -$1,527.06.

I am desperate. I do not want to live in this existence any longer, but I don’t want this to be the end of my story either. I will post updates in the comments section. Time is of the essence.
