"The Kids are All Fight" - Political Graffiti at the Local Highschool [1]

Yes I stole “The Kids are All Fight” from the Simpsons, but I think the similarities end there (please comment if you see any connection though). Unfortunately this is not a funny situation.
On Tuesday morning my kid’s highschool sent out an email to parents that some graffiti had happened on campus, which took aim at “the presidential administration”. Of course the Principal condemned it, said it was being removed ASAP, etc.
This morning another email from the Principal said that 2 locations on campus were vandalized with messages with slurs against “black people, gay people, and Jewish people”. Again the school tried to express “this is not who we are” and said they are taking it seriously.
And I’m not really sure what to think about this. Of course I’d prefer that schools and students just focus on education, and not get into the political fight. But schools, education, and students really are under attack, and I guess the students are really feeling it.
Any other Kossacks out there hearing about this kind of stuff going on?
Personally I learned a lot from Speech & Debate in highschool, and I wish this school had such a program. I learned how to disagree politely and explain your point, without being an asshole (mostly). And I learned about research and facts, vs uninformed opinions.
Hoping this settles down, but not optimistic.
