I will be supporting the national movement to send postcards (or more likely letters) to the White House, postmarked on March 15 (#TheIdesOfTrump).
Here are the messages I will be sending.
Tariffs
As we learned in high school, tariffs are a terrible idea for everyone. But they do the most damage to the country that imposes them. They are paid by consumers in higher prices, and they trigger responses from other countries that further hurt American consumers and producers. So we pay higher prices and we sell fewer goods overseas. Tariffs damage our economy.
I am surprised they never taught that to you in your high-powered business school. Or maybe you just weren’t paying attention.
It’s not too late. Don’t be an asshole. Rescind all tariffs. Support America and Americans.
Taxes
The income tax is intentionally progressive – i.e., the richest pay the largest tax rate. In the 1950s, we had the highest marginal tax rate for high incomes in our history, rich folks still got richer, and we had the healthiest economy of the century. Rich people forget that they need customers who can afford their products.
I am surprised they never taught that to you in your high-powered business school. Or maybe you just weren’t paying attention.
It’s not too late. Don’t be an asshole. Rescind all tax breaks for the wealthy. Support America and Americans.
Russia
Russian agents have been trying to disrupt and destroy American society from the inside since the 1950s. Putin is a master at manipulating his agents inside the US, and attacking American elections and American culture. Khruschev notoriously said, ‘We will destroy you from within.” They are still trying and our counterintelligence efforts have been stopping them.
I am surprised they never taught that to you in your high-powered business school. Or maybe you just weren’t paying attention.
It’s not too late. Don’t be an asshole. Disassociate from all things Russian and restore our counterintelligence efforts. Support America and Americans.
Foreign aid
Foreign aid is the best weapon we have against terrorism and foreign influence. It presents America as a friend to every country we help. It also helps American producers of the goods we provide. If we stop foreign aid, not only will people die, but American farmers will suffer and other countries like China and Russia will step up to replace us, which will shift world opinion against us.

It’s not too late. Don’t be an asshole. Restore USAID and all foreign aid. Support America and Americans.
Elon Musk
When billionaires control the American government, that is called an Oligarchy. Billionaires will not support policies that favor working class Americans, like progressive taxation, unions, Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, and consumer protection. Billionaires do not have the expertise to head governmental agencies. Democracy dies in an Oligarchy.

It’s not too late. Don’t be an asshole. Fire Elon Musk and the Oligarchs. Support America and Americans.
