Hail to the goat [1]

If you have read a sports page in the last ten or twenty years, you probably ran across a discussion of who the greatest of all time is in a particular sport. For example, Jordan, or Bird, or LeBron, or whoever in basketball. One of them should be the G.O.A.T.
Of course, the label GOAT is ironic. A goat is a smelly barnyard animal, not to mention the perpetrator of a failed enterprise - the one who gets the blame. Also, the goat is the last in rank among graduates of a West Point class. (See Custer, George A.)
I think there should be a discussion of who the greatest con man of all time is. Wikipedia lists dozens of fraudsters. Some of the schemes are very entertaining. But none of them come close to conning 77 million voters in a democracy into believing that he would deliver anything to benefit them, while all the time in thrall to one of the most evil dictators on the planet. There can be no doubt in my mind about who the greatest con man of all time is. Do you agree?
So I would advise all political writers, journalists, and pundits to refer to the president as GOAT Donald Trump. If most people think we're calling him a smelly barnyard animal, fine. If many people think we're calling him the greatest con man ever, fine. If his MAGA acolytes think we're calling him the best president in history, that's okay too. People who think he's the worst would also call him the goat. Just so “Trump” and “GOAT” get fused together permanently in people’s minds.
Unless they are die-hard sports fans, people will hear the word "goat" and think "smelly barnyard animal" and "guy who messes things up." Only a few will think it's a compliment no matter how much the righties try to con us into believing otherwise.
That, to my mind, is as it should be. Donald Trump, the GOAT. Has a nice ring to it, don't you think?
