Trump is weak [1]

“There’s a world of difference between a strong ego, which is essential, and a large ego, which can be destructive.”
- Lee Iacocca
Trump’s ego is large and weak. Witness the temper tantrum he threw during the Feb 28 meeting with Volodymyr Zelenskyy in the Oval Office. Rather than close the deal* on Ukraine’s future, Trump told Zelenskyy he was “gambling with World War Three”, that he was being “disrespectful to the country”, that he had not been sufficiently “thankful”. Trump cancelled the press conference and the ‘deal’ may never happen. Why?
The answer, of course, is Trump’s mammoth, yet fragile ego. Trump is too weak NOT to appear to dominate Zelenskyy in public.
That fragility is a defect that Democrats should be exploiting. The single trait that identifies Trump supporters is an Authoritarian personality. Authoritarians revere strong leaders. Revere does not capture the feeling. Lust is better. If we take that away from them, his support will diminish.
Democrats lost the ballgame after Harris humiliated Trump in the debate. She challenged him to a second debate and he smartly declined. Then she failed to follow up. She should have repeated the challenge every day thereafter. She should have shouted it at 120 decibels 24/7 on TV, TikTok, FB, X, and on billboards everywhere. If she had done that, she would have peeled off enough votes to win.
Had he risen to the bait, she would have destroyed him again. If he didn’t accept the challenge, there’s your proof that he’s weak.
There is no way that Trump could have ignored these repeated challenges, nor anyone else.
That’s water under the bridge. What should we do now? With republicans owning all three branches of the government, it’s going to be tough. Nevertheless, it must be done. Democratic leaders need to START MAKING MORE NOISE:
Where is the new DNC Chair, Ken Martin? You never hear from him. Does he even exist?
Unleash Democratic leaders who know how to make themselves heard; AOC, Rashida Tlaib, and Pete Buttigieg come to mind. Mind, nobody is going to agree with everything they say. That’s not the point. The point is to project strong leadership.
When Trump exhibits even the slightest weakness, either in policy, physical actions, or speeches, attack that weakness immediately. But don’t stop. Keep attacking that point, loudly, until he is forced to defend himself. When he has to step up and say, ‘No, I didn’t give in to whoever’, we’ll know that we won that round.
Suggestions?
Will this strategy work? YES. Because Democrats are searching for leaders. And as we saw above, republicans are a cult, cleaving to a leader. Democrats have an opportunity to demonstrate leadership and at the same time diminish the republican cult-god, thus killing two birds with one stone. The time for action is now.
*I won’t discuss whether there SHOULD have been a deal that included Ukraine giving away its mineral resources with no security guarantee. Trump SHOULD have thanked Zelenskyy for defending democracy.
