Trump Sets Record for Longest Speech Without a Single Fact [1]

['This Content Is Not Subject To Review Daily Kos Staff Prior To Publication.']

I I mean, how did they not usher him off the stage? His lies were blatant, easily debunked, and completely detached from reality. How is it even legal to mislead the public on this scale?

All he cares about is curating a narrative his base wants to hear—truth be damned. At this point, what does “truth” even mean anymore? The sheer volume of lies was staggering, almost surreal. It’s as if he stood there and declared, “I’m 25 years old and weigh 120 pounds,” and dared us to take him at face value.

If he lies this flagrantly, with zero consequences, why isn’t the Secret Service stepping in for an emergency psychological evaluation before he completely upends our democracy?

Twenty-Fifth Amendment, where are you at? Save us. We’re drowning. This is a full-blown presidential crisis—if the Constitution still means anything.

And shame on you, Republicans, for enabling this monster. How much more spineless and corrupt can you get? Stop insulting our intelligence by pretending any of this lunacy is normal.

Fact-checkers be damned! In case you missed it, here’s what went down last night.

The Highlight Reel: Trump’s Boldest Lies from His Makeshift State of the Union

1. Social Security Fraud Claims

Claim: Trump asserted that the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), led by Elon Musk, uncovered “hundreds of billions of dollars of fraud.” He also claimed that millions of deceased individuals were still listed as alive in the Social Security database, suggesting widespread fraudulent payments.

Fact-Check: As of March 2, DOGE reported an estimated $105 billion in savings, with evidence supporting only $19.8 billion of that total. It’s unclear how much, if any, is related to actual fraud. Internal audits indicate that the number of deceased recipients still receiving benefits is likely in the thousands, not millions.

2. Inflation and Economic Inheritance

Claim: Trump stated he inherited “an economic catastrophe and an inflation nightmare” from his predecessor, President Joe Biden. He also claimed that inflation under Biden was “perhaps” the worst in history.

Fact-Check: When Trump took office, economic growth was strong, and inflation had fallen significantly from earlier highs. While inflation rates had been elevated during parts of Biden’s term, they were not the worst in U.S. history.

3. Autism Prevalence Rates

Claim: Trump claimed that “not long ago” only 1 in 10,000 children had autism, whereas now it’s 1 in 36, implying a dramatic recent increase.

Fact-Check: The 1 in 10,000 figure dates back several decades when diagnostic criteria and awareness were more limited. The current estimate of 1 in 36 reflects broader definitions and increased awareness, not necessarily a true spike in incidence.

4. Power Plant Closures

Claim: Trump alleged that the Biden administration had “closed more than 100 power plants.”

Fact-Check: Data from the Department of Energy’s Energy Information Administration shows that from 2020 to 2023, the total number of electric power plants increased by 2,187. While coal-powered plants decreased by 57, other types, including those using renewable energy, saw growth.

5. Immigration Figures

Claim: Trump claimed that under Biden, “21 million people poured into the United States.”

Fact-Check: This figure is unsubstantiated. The total number of people apprehended trying to enter the country illegally, those who came to legal ports of entry without authorization, and those estimated to have evaded capture is significantly lower.

6. Fentanyl Smuggling

Claim: Trump stated that both Mexico and Canada have “allowed fentanyl to come into our country at levels never seen before.”

Fact-Check: While fentanyl smuggling from Mexico is a significant issue, attributing similar levels to Canada is misleading. Less than 1% of fentanyl seized by U.S. border officials comes through Canada.

7. Oil and Natural Gas Reserves

Claim: Trump claimed that the U.S. has “more liquid gold under our feet” than any other nation.

Fact-Check: The U.S. ranks between ninth and eleventh globally in crude oil reserves and fourth or fifth in recoverable natural gas reserves, contradicting Trump’s assertion.

8. Panama Canal Construction Deaths

Claim: Trump repeated the claim that 38,000 American lives were lost during the construction of the Panama Canal.

Fact-Check: This figure is inaccurate. Historical records indicate that approximately 5,600 workers died during the canal’s construction, with the majority being non-American laborers.

9. Aid to Ukraine

Claim: Trump claimed that the U.S. has “spent perhaps $350 billion” on aid to Ukraine, while Europe has spent only $100 billion.

Fact-Check: Trump’s figures are inflated. The U.S. aid to Ukraine is significantly less than $350 billion, and European contributions are larger than $100 billion.

10. Golden Dome Missile Defense

Claim: Trump announced plans to build a “Golden Dome missile defense shield” for the U.S., similar to Israel’s Iron Dome, stating that the technology is now available.

Fact-Check: Such technology to protect the entire U.S. does not currently exist, and experts question its feasibility. Israel’s Iron Dome is designed for short-range threats and is not applicable on a national scale like the U.S.

Last night was a grotesque display of authoritarian delusion, staged like a reality TV spectacle spiraling into madness. Six weeks into his presidency, Trump isn’t just lying he’s waging an all-out assault on reality itself, with his enablers clapping like mindless drones as he drags the country deeper into his demented fentanyl fantasy.

Meanwhile, Americans wake up exhausted, forced to dissociate through another workday, desperately hoping their jobs still exist tomorrow. The machine grinds on, indifferent to their survival.

Authoritarianism doesn’t take root overnight—it grows in the silence of those who know better but do nothing. We cannot afford to be silent. We cannot afford to wait. The institutions that should be holding him accountable are failing us, and the only thing standing between Trump and total control is us—ordinary people organizing, resisting, and refusing to let this become our new reality.

And through it all, Trump, with zero remorse, maniacally ransacks our democracy, unchallenged, rewriting history in real time. daring us to stop him.

Get involved locally. Join grassroots organizations fighting for democracy, workers’ rights, and civil liberties. National politics may seem overwhelming, but real change starts in our own communities.

• Disrupt the narrative. Challenge disinformation wherever you see it—at work, in your family, online. Don’t let lies go unchecked.

• Mobilize and protest. Mass movements have stopped dictators before. Attend marches, rallies, and direct actions that send a clear message: we do not consent to this destruction of our democracy.

• Support independent media. Corporate news outlets profit from both-sides false equivalency. Seek out and fund journalism committed to exposing the truth.

• Vote—but organize beyond the ballot box. Elections matter, but so does what happens between them. Build local power, pressure representatives, and never stop pushing.

• Refuse to normalize this. Every time we act like this is just another political cycle, we make it easier for authoritarianism to take hold. Stay outraged. Stay vigilant. Stay ready.

This fight isn’t coming—it’s already here. The resistance starts now.
