Democrats Lost a Golden Opportunity Last Night to Shout: "I'm Spartacus" [1]

Trump talk is not normal.
When Rep. Al Green of Texas bravely interrupted Trump’s address last night, Democratic lawmakers and their guests had a perfect opportunity to hit a home run. Sadly, they did not, although they did get on base!
What didn’t happen?
Well if you’ve ever seen the movie classic, the McCarthyism busting “Spartacus” film and it’s closing scenes, you’d realize what also could have been done.
And it might easily have brought the house down.
Kirk Douglas as “Spartacus”
As security walked towards Rep. Green, another lawmaker could have shouted something akin to “I’m Spartacus,” such as “I’m Rep. Green.” Or it didn’t have to be that, it could have been a slogan or their own name. And every time security got close to someone, the same thing could have happened.
Breaking Stiff Shirted Images
Do this for a few minutes and Trump would have gone crazy . . . OK, well he already is crazy. But seriously, it would have broken the stiff-shirted Democractic “Chuck Schumer image for all time. For those too young to have seen the film, or those who have just never seen it, watch the Youtube.com clip, you’ll understand it’s power better than if I just describe it.
What Do you Think?
I think it’s an example of what type of messaging the Democrats and activists must do to get essential media and listener attention. Although I think they were getting “warmer” last night and did some good things.
Whatever you think about Abbey Hoffman and Jerry Rubin, for example, their satirical youth oriented approach got tremendous media attention, something we need desperately today.
