Liccardo introduces MEME Act [1]

Getting started as a freshman in congress is tough, especially in the middle of an aggressive coup by an aspiring autocrat with the help of the world’s richest man to do his bidding. Being in the minority makes it even harder. My new congressman, former San Jose Mayor Sam Liccardo (CA-16) is that guy. Last week he introduced the Modern Emoluments and Malfeasance Enforcement (MEME) Act, legislation to halt the financial exploitation of the public by corrupt federal officeholders — in other words, to make corruption criminal again.
Three days before his inauguration, Trump launched one of his cheesy meme coins. Some of his investors, including Chinese investors, pumped up the price, cashing in hundreds of millions of dollars before the value plummeted. He duped more than 800,000 Americans, among them his strongest supporters, who collectively lost more than $2 billion. Insiders call this a “rug pull.”
Of course, in the current environment it doesn’t stand a chance of reaching a floor vote, but just introducing it sends a message for what Liccardo is standing for; honest government that serves the people rather than ripping them off for personal gain.
Here’s an article about it in local coverage:
