Musk's minions are impersonating government officials. Isn't that a crime? [1]

Got to wondering what if any laws the staffers of the so-called Department of Government Efficiency (which as we all know is not an actual department of the federal government) have broken by entering official agencies, gaining access to their information systems, etc. A simple web search turned up this:

Whoever falsely assumes or pretends to be an officer or employee acting under the authority of the United States or any department, agency or officer thereof, and acts as such, or in such pretended character demands or obtains any money, paper, document, or thing of value, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than three years, or both.” (18 U.S. Code § 912 - Officer or employee of the United States)

If only there were a federal prosecutor in DC willing to go after Musk’s kiddie corps…

Sending this to my Representative, who sits on the House oversight committee.
