Trump’s steel tariffs were supposed to make imported steel more expensive, thus making US domestic steel more competitive, in turn encouraging domestic steel consumers to consume more domestic steel and less imported steel.
Am I right?
Well, guess what. *laughs*
The tariffs won’t even kick in for 2 more weeks, but in anticipation of the tariffs, US domestic steel producers have been raising their prices so high that — you guessed it — imported steel is still cheaper, and US steel consumers have been buying more imported steel!
You can’t make this up!
