New Day Cafe - Saturday: A Moment Of Respite w/ Critters and Stills [1]

I was going to write a diary on witches, and then when I logged on to get my materials together, I was gobsmacked by Trump/Vance wagging their index fingers at UA President Volodomyr Zelenskyy, chastising him like he was an errant servant whose sole role was to be chastised, and being grilled for not wearing a suit, ffs. I spent most of the afternoon in a red haze, on X. Ugh!

So, I thought birds and critters to promote calmness. We need coffee!

Some red on the feathers…

I bet the breeze has a voice here

Sound up

Teeeny and blue

x Okay, you lot need some cheering up.

The world is a mess ... but this splendid fairywren (yes, that's its name: splendid fairywren) does not know or care who Trump, Vance, Musk, or any one those other idiots are.

Learning how to groom by giving an assist...

x A young Sandhill Crane (on the right) watching an adult preen. I was a little surprised the adult was letting the young one stick the beak in the feathers. I believe the adult was surprised too; the adult looked up and flapped his/her wings to shoo the young bird away. pic.twitter.com/2076Xyfxnx β€” Jocelyn Anderson Photography (@JocAPhotography) February 28, 2025

x I've lived next to the River Cart in Paisley for nearly 30 years, this is the first picture I've managed to get of a kingfisher. It's about 100 metres away, not the sharpest pic but I'm just glad I managed to get the shot. pic.twitter.com/E0qHYHul6k β€” Andy. (@bunothanboy) February 26, 2025
