I got home from the hospital after my quadruple bypass surgery less than 48 hours ago and much to my surprise, a friend had done some fundraising unbeknownst to me by asking people who were participating in yesterday's boycott to send the money they might have spent to my GFM instead.
It exceeded the goal by more than $300, allowing me to be assured of taking care of my May expenses plus giving that small cushion to allow for a purchase of a walker with a bench seat so that as I begin my recovery, I'll be able to start with small steps and rest whenever I need to instead of hoping to find a spot wherever fatigue might dictate the need. It also allows for the purchase of an elevated toilet seat so that I can avoid the highest risk activity to my chest incisions which included sitting down and standing up.
Please know that I cannot adequately express how I've been blessed with so many miracles in the last few months, most importantly is being alive.
Your support, emotional, spiritual and financial, along with all the encouragement and personal stories you've shared have kept me alive, fed me with hope and filled my spirit with miracles that few of us ever need and even fewer having the opportunity to experience.
Please know that I have a long way to go, my back is no better of course and I join you in having many new stresses due to circumstances beyond my control as I continue to hope against hope that somehow, someone in this administration will see clear to identify me as qualified for SSDI.
Those are things out of my hands but please know that I'm overwhelmed with the gratitude that can only come from true, divine intervention. You have been that for me and I will earn your continued faith and uplift by sharing my upcoming milestones with the same joy and gratitude that I've tried to show for every kind words, every warm wish, every single dollar, and every ounce of encouragement that you've so selflessly offered.
Thank you thank you thank you!
I will close with the following quote from Henry Ward Beecher and ask those of you who have seen "Big Fish" to remember the field of flowers that he offered his future wife only to describe that my blossoms of gratitude exceed that by volumes.
Gratitude is the fairest blossom which springs from the soul” – Henry Ward Beecher.
