About that "Ambush"... [1]

It is an ancient set of practices. When a vassal comes to his Suzerain for a graciously bestowed benefit, it is mandatory that the vassal publicly demonstrate great love, affection, and gratitude to the Ruler.
Not only did the President of Ukraine not present as intimidated and submissive, he dared to reveal, on live television, facts about Don Aldo’s own patron, V. V. Putin. Then he completely failed to meekly back down when this generated enormous rage.
The satisfying spectacle of a subject exhibiting undying fealty to his master, originally scheduled for this television time slot, somehow failed to happen.
The obvious problem is that President Zelenskiy didn’t realize he was supposed to be a submissive supplicant, rather than act as if he were the head of state of an ally nation facing dire threats.
Then, there’s the matter of Z’s Original Sin, that wonderful phone call about sending in the freshly-manufactured dirt about the Bidens. It was immediately obvious that at least half of the Elonald Trusk co-Presidency was furious to the point of incoherence.
It would be really neat if leaders overseas could get a grasp of the new world order: Trump is not an American President in the old style; his style is more like an extremely inept Persian Emperor who is no longer all there, if indeed he ever was.
"Back to the table?” What a profoundly silly idea. Z. isn’t going to roll over and play the proper submissive role, unless something I regard as unimaginable happens. Trump is not going to become a rational and trustworthy allied leader at any time in the future. Especially with his boss watching.
