First rule of Fight Club: "You do not talk about Fight Club."

Kash Patel somehow thinks UFC training can improve agents physical fitness. He did a teleconference Wednesday with the heads of 55 field offices to talk about it.

The virtual meeting with each field offices special-agent-in-charge has long been a weekly occurrence, but this week's call was the first led by Patel, who was sworn in as Director on Friday.

Dana White, the CEO of UFC, has been a supporter of Trump for a long time. He was a speaker at the Republican National Convention last year. Trump has shown up at UFC events with White. He'll probably show up at one soon. Trump has already been to the Super Bowl and the Daytona 500 since being sworn in. The man loves arenas and crowds.

Just days after Trump won the election in November, he attended a UFC fight at Madison Square Garden where he sat with White and Musk at ringside.

On the teleconference call, Patel talked about many other subjects, but the UFC partnership stood out.

Rich Frankel, an ABC News contributor, said, "If they're trying to up their physical fitness, the UFC is very specific in their fitness." Frankel was the special-agent-in-charge at the Newark, New Jersey, FBI office.

Frankel, who spent more than two decades in the FBI, said the FBI may benefit from increasing their physical fitness standards, so the idea the UFC helping with the FBI's training regimen may not be as unusual as it sounds.

It's ironic that the man who is now the FBI director spent years bashing the FBI for its investigations into Trump and the January 6th attack on the Capitol. FBI agents and workers have been expecting a bloodbath with firings. That still might happen. Especially since he's promised it.

The teleconference call lasted 30 minutes and Patel complained about leaks to the news media. He's got one right here with the teleconference call. His incoming deputy, Dan Bongino, is a big UFC fan.

During the call, Mr. Patel said that his visits to field offices with Mr. Bongino would be surprises because he did not want to stress employees out.

Somehow, I don't think that's a good idea. Surprise visits would completely stress them out when they happened. Advance notice, I think, would be better.

As if he didn't already have enough to do, Kash Patel was also sworn in on Monday as the acting Director of the Bureau of Alcohol,Tobacco Firearms, and explosives.

Kash Patel is athletic and plays hockey, but former agents say the FBI team is very good, and they don't know if he would make the cut.

When asked about the Patel/UFC story, an FBI spokesperson declined to comment to The New York Times, and ABC News.
